Sweet as sugar, Cold as ice. Fool me once, I’ll kill you twice.

Tristan was in his office, getting some files ready. A man and a woman entered his office. The woman had an air of confidence around her  while the man fidgeted around. “Sir, the meeting with the delegates from Belgium has been postponed to next Tuesday.” The lady said.

“Did they give an explanation why they had to postpone it? For all they know I could be busy that day.” Tristan said impassively.

“They couldn’t give any real excuses–”

“And they still postponed it? Tell them if they don’t give me suitable explanation, they won’t need to come over here at all” Tristan said strictly, “and the goods from China?”

“They should be here by next week Monday. The ship has already left.” The lady informed.

“That’s good” Tristan nodded and glanced at the nervous young man behind her. “Who is he?”
“He is an intern sir.”

“What is your name? And how old are you? Tell me about yourself” Tristan said, “Doris, leave us alone for a moment. Just wait outside.”

“Yes sir” Doris, the lady said and left. Tristan looked at the young man and urged him to speak.

“My name is Kazeem, I am 20 years old and I am working in the electronics part of the company” Kazeem timidly said.

“Okay, Doris!”

“Sir?!” Doris came rushing in.

“Kazeem, I want you to handle this for me–”

“Sir?! Me?! But I am just an intern–”

“If I give you a job, you will be able to do it” Tristan said with finality. Kazeem gulped and protested no further. “get a note and write this down” Tristan said and began saying so many things that had to do with electronics and engineering.

“Sir? Why don’t you just send me the database?.” Kazeem said trembling.

“The database is in my brain.” Tristan answered and Kazeem looked like he could faint. Luckily for Kazeem, he got a break.

“Hello hello Tristan” Tristan heard a familiar voice call and his expression turned to one of annoyance.

“Oh God” he muttered and seconds later, Darren burst through the doors with a dazzling smile on his lips. Tristan massaged his forehead, trying to stop himself from reacting.

“Hello Doris, you look more beautiful as the days go by” Darren complimented and Doris smiled shyly. Kazeem by the side looked startled in comparison, like a frightened cat.

“Stop flirting with my secretary” Tristan said deadpanned.

“And stop torturing this poor thing!” Darren said, swinging an arm over Kazeem’s neck. “look at him. It looks like he will pass out from fright.”

“That might actually be your fault” Tristan said unamused, “you two can leave.” Doris and Kazeem walked away and Darren took a seat opposite Tristan.
