He was still glaring. "Clear."
"So, now that we are all well-informed of what my title is, which, by the way if any of you are still curious, it's General Kintanara now. And as the General of this mission, and your superior," I said this looking at Keith, "I get to make the decision of who takes what portion of the mission."
I looked at Josh and Kiana, and I could easily tell that they were trying to stifle their laughter, and by the look on Keith's face I could tell he was not happy about it.
"Josh, I want you to take Keith. Search for the intel on the right side of the arena. Kiana, take the left. I've got the center. Meet at the exit point in twenty minutes tops. We should be able to complete this in less than five. Any questions?"
They shook their heads.
"Alright. Everyone got their flash drive?"
Keith shook his head.
"You don't get one yet. That's why you're on Josh. And, when you're speaking to him, Keith, you must call him Private Valkevich. Any other such name will get you probation. Josh, feel free to order more discipline if he steps out of line."
Josh nodded.
"Then we're good?" I asked.
They all nodded again.
"Here we go," I said as I pressed the button to start the sim, and the gunfire began immediately.
We made it through the sim in five minutes. Kiana and I were at the exit point first, waiting for Josh and Keith. They took a little bit longer, and I guessed it was because Keith was trying to control Josh.
Finally, they came to the exit, I ended the sim, and we entered the review room.
"We made it in good time. Nice work." I turned to Josh. "How was Keith?"
Josh looked uneasily between Keith and I.
"Just say it," I said.
Keith nodded.
"Well," Josh cleared his throat. "I mean, he tried to take the flash drive from me, but I overpowered him."
"So he attacked you?" I asked.
Josh shook his head. "No, I think he just wanted to prove himself."
I looked at Keith. "The best way you're going to prove yourself is by being obedient to your instructors, Josh and Kiana included."
Keith looked down and didn't say anything.
"Alright," I checked the time. "We have an hour and twenty minutes before we start the mission prep routine. No physical exertion. Maintain your energy, and let's head to the mess for a snack."
I led the way from the simulation review room to the cafeteria.
After our snack, I instructed Kiana to give Keith a tour of the base. There was no way I could stand next to him with a straight face. He gave me too many emotions. Emotions I didn't even know I had. I needed a few hours to try to clear them before our mission. So instead of just letting Kiana take him wherever she liked without supervision, I told her I'd be watching them from the Central Control Room and listening to their conversations. She had nodded, put an earpiece in, I put mine in, and we parted ways.
"In position," I said once I took my place at the desk in the C.C. Room and located them on the cameras. "Procede when ready. Over."
"Proceeding." She said back, and I watched her approach Keith.
