"You ready for this?"
I looked at Steve from the corner of my eye. We were backstage. Natasha was adding finishing touches to my makeup and Wanda was making sure my hair was perfect.
I wore an off the shoulder dress. It was sapphire blue and rested just above my knees.
I took a deep breath and nodded.
"I'm ready," I said.
Steve nodded and walked away.
"Damn, his ass looks good in that uniform," Natasha said, leaning back to see the view.
"Yeah," Wanda sighed dreamily.
"What do you think?" Natasha asked as I stayed silent.
"About the Captain's behind?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.
Natasha and Wanda both nodded.
"Well... it's bigger than mine," I said, and the two girls giggled.
"We're ready to go on," Tony said, walking up to us. "What are you giggling about?"
"Nothing," Wanda said.
Tony looked at us suspiciously before walking away, gesturing for me to follow him.
"Okay kid, I'm going to introduce you and then answer a few questions. Then you can answer some. If you get uncomfortable, just let me know and I'll take care of it," Tony said.
I nodded, preparing myself. We got to the side of the stage.
"Alright, when I announce you as Lady Silver, you'll walk onto the stage. I'll look at you as well," Tony said.
"Okay," I replied quietly, the nerves slowly catching up to me.
"You'll be great, kid," he said, before walking onto the stage.
The crowd went wild, cheering and screaming. Tony smiled at the audience and waved.
The other Avengers walked on stage as well. Steve stood beside Tony, a person's space away. I was supposed to stand in that space.
"As you might know, there is a new Avenger joining the ranks. She is an exceptional fighter, and she will be a valuable addition to the team," Tony said.
The crowd cheered again.
"Allow me to introduce Lady Silver!"
The crowd exploded in cheers as I walked onto the stage. Tony smiled at me and I stood next to him at the microphones.
"Are there any questions about the addition?" Tony asked.
A few reporters started asking questions. Tony answered them all with confidence.
"Now, are there any questions for Lady Silver?"
Reporters started shouting to be heard. I pointed to a woman with long brown hair with hazel eyes.
"Do you have any powers?" she asked.
"I can manipulate metal and heal myself and others," I replied.
I knew my charisma was working. I didn't count that as one of my powers, so I left it out of the answer.
"How did you get your powers?" another reporter asked.
"I was experimented on," I replied vaguely.
"Who experimented on you?"
"HYDRA," I replied.
There was a moment of silence before the questions started up again.
"How old are you?"
"I'm 26," I replied.
"Is it true that you are the Steel Soldier?"
Everyone froze. Tony stepped forward to answer the question, but I shook my head at him.
"Yes. I was the Steel Soldier."
The crowd collectively gasped.
"I was under mind control. I think the healing aspect of my powers healed my mind enough to break free. I know that I killed innocent people, but it wasn't truly me. It was HYDRA. And I will make them pay for the crimes that they have committed."
The crowd stayed silent, but it looked like they were sympathetic.
"Do you live at the Avenger's tower?" a reporter asked.
"Yes, I do," I said, glancing at Steve.
The questions continued for a while until I was ushered off stage.
"Wow, well done!" Bucky said, giving me a high-five once we were backstage.
I thanked him and smiled.
"You handled the Steel Soldier comment well," Wanda commented.
"Yeah, that was really inspirational," Sam said, wiping a fake tear from his eye.
"Now it's party time!" Tony said.
The team groaned.
"Do you like parties?" Tony asked me.
"Not sure," I said shrugging.
"I'm sure you'll love them," Tony said.
I looked at Steve and he just shrugged.
Alright then. Time to party.
