She happily walks into her house, shutting the door behind her before shrugging off her winter coat and ruffling her own hair. "Jennie?" a voice said, she is pretty sure it came from the kitchen.
"Hello?" she responded as she drags her feet to the said place, but raises her brows in surprise to see her sister and not her best friend. She settles down in a chair in front of the kitchen counter, observing her sister's movements.
"Why are you here?" she asked, patiently waiting for her to answer. "Well, Jimin said he was busy and that he'll have to cancel your guys' hangout."
Jennie's ears perk up at her brother's sentence, "Busy? But he said he was free." she mumbled, slightly pouting. Yongsun glances at her before leaning on the counter, "Yeah, he said something about packing? I'm not sure." she muttered.
The elder went back to cooking as Jennie whips out her phone, contemplating whether she should call him or not. "Oh, by the way," Yongsun said, catching the younger's attention. "He left a note in your room, I didn't want to be a bad sister and snoop."
With that information, Jennie zooms to her room to search for the said object. Just as she walks in, she spots a black envelope sitting on her bed. She grabs it and hastily rips it open, pulling out a pink card.
Hey, Jenjen..
I'm sorry to have to deliver it to you like this, but I have been busy these past couple days and I know you're going to be mad at me for not telling you. Truth is, I'm moving in with my dad!
Dad? Doesn't his dad live in Australia or something.., she questioned before continuing to read the beautifully folded letter.
Yeah.. I'm moving, I'm moving away from Korea. Moving to Australia to live with biological dad, finally! After you technically forced me to, I thought about it for so long and now, I'm finally doing it. All thanks to you, Jenjen!
A smile plays on Jennie's lips as she reads the letter that was written very neatly, trying her best to not smile but she knows she already failed.
But, that's not the only thing I want to talk about.. You must be wondering why I chose to write it all on a piece of paper and give it to you, right? You're asking why I can't just give it to you face to face, why not tell you over text and why won't I just call you.
Well.. I'm getting tired of this 'best friend' thing..
Her brows knit together in both confusion and worry, what does he mean by 'tired'? And, 'best friend thing'?
I'm tired of being the one you come to when you're sad, when you're heartbroken and when you're angry. I can't stand seeing you in any of those conditions, I'm sick and tired of it.
Jennie pauses and questions, was he talking about her emotions and mood swings? She was really confused at this point.
You always and only come to me when you're in those conditions, which is why I'm starting to grow a bit distant.. And I'm sorry for that. I'm not saying I hate comforting you, but I hate being only your best friend. Can't I be more?
She briefly takes her eyes off of the letter and onto her bed, slowly feeling a bit uneasy. "Be more?"
Why am I the one you come to only after someone makes you mad and sad, after you get your heart stepped on or after you fight with someone? Is it that hard to come to me when you're happy and excited?
Am I always your second choice?
She reaches the end of the letter, with trembling hands, she let go of the letter and draws her legs in. She herself doesn't know why. She doesn't know why she only comes to Jimin when she's sad or upset, broken and depressed.
Was there a reason behind that? Yes? No? She, too, doesn't know the answer to it. Was it because Jimin is her best friend? But what does he mean by 'more'? She has so many questions, so many answers to find but she didn't move a muscle.
She slowly walks out of her room, finding Yongsun on the couch with a bowl of rice. She grabs her phone on the kitchen counter, typing out a message.
I don't know why, but if you are, then does that make me your second choice too?
