It was the day before Halloween, and you were sitting in the Great Hall as you all had arrived for dinner that day. Dumbledore had started to make an announcement, but you were distracted by Cedric making goofy faces at you outside Dumbledore and the professors' line of sight. You had placed your hand over your mouth in an attempt to withhold the laughter that was threatening to spill out out of you, and that's when you heard Dumbledore mention the Triwizard Tournament. You and Cedric made curious eye contact as the two of you shifted your attention to Dumbledore.

Dumbledore was addressing the crowd in his booming voice. He delcared, "Now for those of you who do not know, the tri-wizard tournament brings together three schools for a series of magical contests. From each school a single contestant is selected to compete. Now let me be clear, if chosen you stand alone. And trust me when I say these contests are not for the faint hearted, but more of that later. For now please join me in welcoming the lovely ladies of the Beauxbatons Academy of magic and their headmistress Madam Maxime."

You turned your head just as dozens of gorgeous girls dressed in blue gowns danced down the aisles and stole the attention of many of the male counterparts at the school. You noticed how many of the boys were practically drooling over these new girls, even Cedric couldn't seem to tear his eyes away from them, and an uncomfortable feeling flooded your chest.

Finding the Gryffindor table, you noticed how all the boys seemed to be sitting in nearly identical positions with their jaws dropped and chins resting on their hands. All of their eyes seemed to follow the girls in awe.

You tried to find George amongst those at the table, your eyes finally locating the familiar mops of red hair. Fred was watching the girls too with a shocked expression, seeming to be just as enthralled with the rest of the girls as the others, but George's face was cast downwards. He was absentmindedly jotting some things down on a piece of parchment. He must have forgotten to finish an essay or something, you figured.

As you were watching him, his eyes glanced upwards at the girls for less than a second, but he seemed unimpressed. You jolted in your seat when his eyes found yours already looking at him. He slowly smirked at this and winked at you from across the room.

You whipped back around in your seat and stared at Susan beside you with wide eyes. You whispered, "Susan, he caught me staring."

Susan eyed you before she murmured, "Why were you staring?"

"Because they're beautiful," You hissed back to her, leaning ever closer as you felt your face reddening with the embarrassment of what just happened.

She leaned in further and demanded, "Well, was he looking at them like all these other boys?"

"No. Not one bit," You said with a slight grin. You noticed that the uncomfortable feeling from earlier had subsided because he hadn't been looking at them.

Susan giggled, "That boy is smitten. How could he ignore their beauty unless-"

Susan was interrupted by a couple of the girls trotting over to their table and asking if they could sit with them in their dreamy voices. Cedric smiled at them and nodded vigorously, as if he were a bobblehead. You and Susan glanced at each other after that and had to hold in your laughter.

As the girls sat down at the table, Cedric shot you two a glare before smiling at them again. This made the giggles slip from your mouths as you both leaned against one another and laughed.

The girls looked at you quizzically, but Susan waved her hand and choked, "Sorry, sorry, just...inside joke."

You nodded in agreement as you placed your hand over your mouth to try to block out your barking laughter.

Cedric kicked you under the table before extending a hand to the girls and announcing, "Hi, I'm Cedric Diggory. These are two of my best friends, Susan and Y/N. They're a bit mad as you can see."

The laughter died in your and Susan's throats with his taunting comment. You both assumed straight faces as you turned to stare at him icily.

Susan cackled, "Cedric, honey, you haven't seen how mad we can truly get."

You winked at him and slightly bit your cheek to hide the mischievous smile that was threatening to ruin your serious composure.

Dumbledore announced the arrival of another school, and you jumped when the students loudly thumped their bo staff into the ground during their entrance to the school. You glanced back to see the cause of the commotion, noticing how many of the girls seemed to be staring at these boys, but your eyes drifted over to George instead. You slowly smiled when you realized that he was staring at you first this time. You winked at him before turning back around to look at Susan.

She leaned in close to you and squealed, "I saw that! Oh my god, he's totally into you!"

You beamed as you shushed her, "Be quiet! I don't want anyone to hear you."

Susan smirked at you when she pulled away. Her eyes drifted back to look at the Durmstrang boys, her gaze lingering on a couple of the boys. You were too busy grinning at your hands to pay these new students any mind because you knew that George hadn't been looking at any of these beautiful girls. He had only been looking at you.
