Scott arrives back in Beacon Hills a couple days after getting the call from Mason, he would've like to have come home sooner to see how his younger brother was doing but the only plane he could catch with an available seat was earlier this morning, Melissa and Stiles kept him up to date with Liams current condition - he's stable enough to be alone for a few minutes but they don't like risking it, they also inform him that Theo's been staying with Liam for a couple days after postponing some work meetings and rearranging collaborations with other artists, to start with Scott grew angry because he blames Theo for everything that happened night, blaming anyone but yourself is easy however it's slowly becoming more clear to him that Scott too was in the wrong and nothing he did helped the matter, so now here he is in an Uber getting an apology gift for the guy that's helping keep his brother calm.
"Hey man, could you pull up to the gas station there's something I need to buy before I get home," explains Scott as he points to the upcoming building to their left.
"Sure, just be quick cause I don't want my car keyed by some thug lurking in the shadows."
The black Honda pulls into the gas station and Scott quickly rushes out and into the building, his eyes scan the rows looking for something that says, 'sorry for being a dick, just don't prove me wrong' type of gift, growing increasingly annoyed by how difficult a single task is becoming Scott grabs a couple boxes of milk tray chocolate and rushes to the counter where the cashier looks more then irritated to have to work.
"Would you like a bag?"
"No thanks," grabbing his debit card he's just ready to leave and head home.
"How about donating to sick and injured kids?"
Rolling his eyes Scott asks tiredly, "can I please just pay for my stuff?"
Chewing on the skin around his thumb Scott stares tiredly out the window, the plane back to California hadn't been an easy flight: the turbulence - the thing he hates most about flying - was awful due to an incoming storm which is supposed to arrive within a few hours, hopefully it'll miss Beacon Hills and just stay by the coast, "hey do you know if the storm they talked about on the news is meant to be coming in land?"
"I hope not, my daughter can't even stand listening to strong gusts of wind on a good day," jokes the driver as they arrive on the street Scott lives on.
Inside Scott smells the sweet aroma of food coming through from the kitchen, his stomach rumbles loudly, a sign he hasn't eaten since before getting on the plane home, plus the last time he ate plane food he got stuck on the toilet for half a day just emptying everything out, "mum it's me." Leaving his bag next to the front door Scott kicks off his sneakers and pads along the floor and into the kitchen, "Lydia, what are you doing here, where's my mum?"
"Scott," dropping the ladle in the pot Lydia rushes over to her boyfriends best friend, engulfing him in a hug she squeezes him tightly, "it's so good to see you again, we weren't entirely sure when you'd be coming back so I've been helping Melissa out with the cooking when I've not been at college and Theo's been keeping watch over Liam. . .Mason did tell you that part, right?"
"Yeah, he told me. Can I go and see Liam?"
Upstairs Scott hears Melissa talking softly to Liam in their shared bedroom, wiping the sweat off his hands and onto his trousers Scott wonders why he's feeling so nervous all of a sudden, maybe its not knowing the unexpected about how Liams looks, the possibility of seeing Theo and things going pear-shaped, or even just seeing him mum, the door to their rooms open but he feels like he should knock or at least call out, "hey can I come in?"
