Aw, my ex-best friend is jealous. How fucking cute.
"My guy best friend." I replied, trying to hide a smirk on my face as I said so. Calum's expression was unreadable after I said that, but I always knew that when you couldn't read his expression, look at his eyes.
They were filled with something that looked like a mixture of hurt and hatred. I just rolled my eyes at him, then grabbed my bag and car keys.
"I'll be home round midnight." I told my parents, waving to them as I walked out the front door.
I was halfway down the sidewalk when I heard his rather desperate calls come from the porch. "Jade, please wait." he yelled, and I heard him jogging up behind me.
"What, Calum? What could you possibly need now?" I complained.
All I wanted to do was get in my car and go see Carter and Abby, but of course he had to make things complicated. He always did, no matter how close we were.
"Don't go." he finally said, after almost a minute of contemplating what to say in his head.
"Give me one good reason why I shouldn't." I retorted, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Me." he spoke. "Don't go because of me. I wanna talk to you, please don't go." he begged, taking my hand from my side. I looked down, and once Calum noticed my expression, he dropped my hand from his.
"No, Calum. No. You can't just keep charming your way into my house and eating different meals with my parents! It's weird, mostly because I hate you, Calum Hood. I hate you because you left me two years ago, and you know what the last thing you said to me was?" I asked him, as tears welled up in my eyes.
I didn't want to throw the past back in Calum's face, I wanted to let it go and be friends again. But I couldn't, not after two years without a best friend and a broken a heart. I watched him swallow hard, then he spoke.
"I told you to stop crying because you were embarrassing yourself." he whispered, his voice barely audible as he choked back tears.
"Precisely. So now you expect me to forgive you?" I asked him, and he shook his head.
"I don't expect that at all, Jade. I just wanna talk, I want you to know how shitty I felt after saying that to you." he reached out for me, but I rejected his grip and backed away.
"Well continue feeling shitty, Calum Hood. Please don't come back to my house anymore, I won't ask again." I said, then got in my car and sped away, holding back tears of my own.

Sundays. My favorite days of the week. My parents always invited Carter and Abby over to watch football and eat after church, which is what we always did.
So, I found myself in my living room with my two best friends and my parents, feeling completely happy.
"Go! Go! Go!" Carter shouted at the TV, standing up as the Patriots were running to score. Abby and I just rolled our eyes at my helpless dad her helpless brother.
The doorbell sounded through the house, and I was too wrapped up in my phone to hardly notice it.
"Jade get the door." my dad said, not even bothering to tear his eyes away from the game. I rolled my eyes and locked my phone, rising to answer the door.
"Hiiii." Mali sang as I pulled open the door, and my jaw dropped. She and Calum were standing on my doorstep, and my eyes zeroed in on Calum.
He. Looked. Hot. As. Hell. His plain black singlet and his ripped black jeans really complimented his tan skin, and I actually got a good look at his tattoos.
"Uh, umm, hey. What are you guys doing here?" I asked, finally tearing my eyes away from my ex-best friend.
"Your dad invited us over, he didn't tell you?" Mali raised an eyebrow, and I felt shocked.
"Um, no not really. But that's okay, cmon in." I held the door open as both of them walked inside, and I fought the urge to smack the smirk right off of Calum's face. "Mali and Calum are here." I announced glumly, sinking back down on the couch next to Abby.
"Holy shit, Calum Hood got hot!" Abby whisper-shrieked right in my ear, and I rolled my eyes. Mali sat down next to my mum, and the only open seat ended up being next to me. I swallowed hard as Calum plopped down next to me the couch, smirking intently.
"Hello ladies, how are you two today?" Calum asked, staring at me for two seconds too long.
"I'm Abby, it's nice to meet you Calum." Abby smiled, and Calum grinned back to her. Gag.
"You too, Abby. Who's he?" Calum pointed to Carter.
"That's Carter." I informed him, this being my turn to smirk at him as he set his jaw and his face fell.
"I didn't realize you and Carter hang out so... often." Calum said, trying to smile in attempt to hide the steam coming out his ears.
"Oh all the time." I smirked. Teasing Calum like this was so much fun, he was getting so angry.
"Good for you." Calum said through his gritted teeth. I almost burst into laughter right there, I hadn't seen a pissed off Calum in years.
This was going to be fun.
