"Cal, I'm scared." I cried out.
"Relax, Jade. Just put your foot there, and pull yourself up." Calum grinned, watching as I climbed higher up the tree. He continued to tease me about my fear of going as high up in the tree as he could, so I was determined to beat him.
"Calum." I said again, panicking as my hand slipped from the branch.
"Jade, don't fall. Mum will kill me." he laughed, taking my hand and helping me up to the branch he was on.
Calum was right; the view up here was breath taking. I could see down Calum's entire street, all of his neighbors homes.
"Told you it was pretty." an eight-year-old Calum shot me a grin, where I could see all of the gaps where his teeth should have been, he just kept loosing teeth.
"You were right, Cal." I breathed.
"So you trust me again?" he asked, and I nodded.
"Always." I smiled. Calum's smile only widened.
"Race you to the top!" he stood up on the branch again, and began to climb.
"Calum." I complained, but followed him up anyway.
End of flashback
I woke up in a cold sweat. I kept having these dreams about memories of Calum and I, doing little stupid things as we grew up together. And I hated them. I hated remembering, I didn't want to remember what a good best friend Calum was, before we both finally grew up.
Today was Saturday, and I was so happy I didn't have to go anywhere or see anyone today.
Coffee with Michael yesterday hadn't been eventful, it was actually quite boring. He just chatted about the tour, and I just smiled and nodded a few times to tell him I was still listening, which I wasn't. He didn't look that much different, just had red hair instead of his old blonde hair when he left.
I climbed out of bed and hobbled into the bathroom, jumping into the shower. The hot water felt so good on my tense muscles, and I never wanted to leave it.
I finished my shower and got dressed in leggings and a t-shirt, then skipped downstairs. I heard both of my parents laugh, and was actually kinda confused. They were never that happy in the mornings.
But as I walked in, I saw who was the reason for their laughter. Mister Calum Hood sat at my dining table, laughing and eating pancakes with my parents. That boy really did know how to put the charm on old people.
"Morning Jade." Calum smiled over to me, but his smile soon dropped when I glared, not bothering to say anything back.
"Honey, there's some pancakes on the counter for you if you want them." my mum said, pointing to them.
I suddenly wasn't even that hungry anymore, watching my parents swoon over Calum like he was some sort of king. I rolled my eyes at them, unable to take it anymore.
"Nah, I think I'll head over to Carter and Abby's and hang out for a while." I replied.
"Oh, tell Carter I totally called that win by the Patriots last night, and for him to suck it." my dad laughed, and I laughed along with him.
Carter and Abby are twins, two of my favorite people on the planet. They were over at my house a lot, and Carter and my dad always bet on football.
"I'll tell him." I laughed.
"Who's Carter?" Calum asked, trying to be pleasant for my parents sake, but I watched as he set his jaw and pursed his lips into a straight line.
