Endless hours and hours of sketching and just beginning to paint a base passed as the two people both did something they loved. They had to stop and take a break soon after. Jun was the first to acknowledge this fact.
He wiped his forehead, which was slightly damp with moisture. Although they had opened the window to let in some fresh air earlier, it was still quite stuffy inside.
Jun stepped back and stared at the work they had produced within the hours they worked. It was now just over 3:15 in the afternoon.
The male tapped Jieun's shoulder. She had still been working hard at the painting and Jun wanted her to take a break since he was worried. Jieun turned around, looking at Jun with her paintbrush still in hand.
"Hm?" she asked without words. Jun smiled softly at her, gently taking the paintbrush from her hand.
"We should take a break now. We've done enough work for today I think. Let's work on it tomorrow." he suggested, cleaning the brush by soaking it and cleaning it with water from a plastic cup. He placed it down on a paper towel, taking Jieun's arm and dragging her to the kitchen.
"Want a sandwich?" Jun asked, opening the fridge and taking out the ham, cheese, a tomato, lettuce and of course, bread.
"Yeah sure. Why not," Jieun said, sitting herself down at a table, watching Jun making the simple, yet delicious food. He looked over and met eyes with Jieun, who continued to look. He blushed, occupying his eyes on the tomato he was cutting.
"You know. It's a bit embarrassing when you're watching me make a sandwich." a faint smile appeared. "It makes my heart beat really fast," he added quietly so only he could hear it.
"Hm? Did you say something?" Jieun asked, noticing Jun saying something she couldn't quite make out.
"It was nothing." he quickly covered up, shaking his head. With a small movement, he picked up the two plates with the sandwiches and brought them to the table, one in front of Jieun and the other where Jun would sit.
"Thanks." (*cough* un(intentional) Seventeen reference *cough*)
They both began to eat, taking bites of the sandwich. Jieun didn't know she was this hungry and craved for food this much until her tastebuds reacted to the sandwich. She tore into the food, chewing and soon finishing everything on the plate. Jieun's ears turned red as she remembered she wasn't the only one in the room.
"Haha, I guess you were more hungry than you thought," Jun commented, taking his own slower and less desperate bite.
"Yeah... I'm sorry you had to see that-" she scratched her nape, embarrassed.
"Nah. Everyone should eat as well as you do honestly. Food is life, and you clearly know that very well." he laughed and Jieun smiled.
"It's basically my routine. Sleep, wake up, eat and sleep again," she said agreeing with Jun. "Should I just put this in the sink?" Jieun got up and took the plate with her, stopping to look at Jun. He nodded.
"Yeah sure."
She did as suggested and took her plate, soon returning to the table and slouching on the chair. Jieun did nothing but sit and breathe as she stared at the table, the dining room only filled with sounds of Jun eating.
The female wanted to talk more with the other since they shared a common hobby and profession.
"So, what do you like doing in your spare time apart from painting and drawing?" she questioned. A few seconds passed as Jun thought carefully about what to say next.
"Uh well, I like to dance..." he said quietly, almost as if he was shy to tell her. This intrigued Jieun and she widened her eyes in surprise.
"Ooh! You dance? Are you good at it?"
"I guess. A lot of people say I am but I don't really think so. I could improve a lot." he replied with the same level of quietness. "I could show you some other day if you want."
"That sounds good." there was a brief pause before she continued. "I wish I had other defining talents like you do. The only thing I'm probably good at is drawing and that's it. I feel I could still improve in that area as well." Jun shook his head at her statement.
"No, you have great skill. And many other talents like being funny, relatable and easy to talk to. You are not boring and that's a fact." he said, with a confidence he didn't know he had. Jun blushed when he realised everything he just said. Jieun smiled widely at him.
"Thank you for saying that." a small silence filled the room as Jieun tried to think of a topic to talk about. "But anyways, what kind of dance do you do?" Jieun finally said.
"Some contemporary and a little hip-hop." Jun said. Jieun nodded her head.
There was not much to say afterwards so they enjoyed the sound of birds, in a peaceful zone. Jieun noticed the darkening sky and checked the time on her phone. It was 5:16pm. There were also two missed calls from Soonyoung and a few texts from him. A feeling of worry tugged at her and she stared at the phone in concern for her neighbour and friend (also crush).
"Ah. It's getting a bit late now. I should probably head home now. We'll meet tomorrow at the same place as today."
"Okay then. Do you need me to drop you off?" Jun asked, getting up after Jieun did, stretching his arms above him. They dropped limply at his side when he released control over them.
"Just take me to the cafe. I'll walk the rest of the way." Jun nodded and they both walked out of the house, into the car and onto the roads.
Jun dropped Jieun off at the cafe they originally met at and she waved goodbye to him, watching the car drive away. She began her walk home quickly after.
