There's a popular legend in Monstadt, that a girl wakes up a few days before Christmas and she envelops the whole land in snow. She also gives the children gifts, there isn't a Santa Claus in Mondstadt. Only the girl in which they call as the Christmas Princess.
Only so, this is just a belief and a mere legend and parents use the story to make their children spirited for the festivity.
"Mr. Kaeya! Do you think the Christmas Princess would like this small bear that I made?" Klee held a small bear keychain, the metal hoop dangling on her finger. "I know it isn't much but do you think this will make her happy?"
Kaeya doesn't really believe in the said legend. Like he said, to see is to believe and besides he doesn't even spend Christmas. He thinks that the holiday is just a mere excuse to not work for the said day. He just spends the day wandering throughout the streets and sometimes stopping by the tavern to drink wine.
"She'll like whatever the kids bring her" Kaeya simply replied before heading towards Jean's office. Maybe there's something that could be done today, destroying hilichurl camps or maybe drive some abyssal mages away.
Jean looked up from her seat and gave Kaeya a small smile, "May I help you?"
"Is there any emergencies or maybe tasks that I need to do?" The cryo visioned knight asked the grandmaster, itching to go on an adventure.
"No.. ah wait. I'm wondering if you could take care of a girl that we found wondering the streets last night" Jean hopefully looked at Kaeya, "She was shivering cold due to the snow so the knights took her to the infirmary. She was wearing ragged clothing too, can you see if Amber have some spare clothing for her?"
Kaeya nodded, at least its better than doing nothing and spending Christmas .
The knight thanked Jean and he went his way towards the infirmary where the supposed girl was staying at. He didn't had high hopes and he wished that he had a totally different assignment.
Kaeya stood still in front of the door, having second thoughts on knocking. This was the first time he's had an assignment with a girl other than the female knights. The feeling of working with a female is still foreign to him, even if he has this 'bad boy' vibe with him.
But nevertheless, he sucked his breath and knocked on the door.
"I'm coming in"
The infirmary was rather empty. There were a lot of beds lined up but only one was occupied, which was where the girl was resting on. Kaeya cautiously walked towards the occupied bed, his heels were the only one who were echoing through the room.
"Excuse me.." the knight sat down on a chair right next to the bed and looked at the stranger's face. she doesn't look THAt bad.
The female shook her head and her eyes slowl fluttered open. Her eyes met with Kaeya's which made the knight shocked and jump on his seat. The female was just staring at the knight, not knowing how to react in the situation.
"Excuse me.. but I have seem to got lost on where I was. The last thing I remember is that I was having fun in the festivities here in Monstadt and then I suddenly blacked out" the female swept her legs to the side of the bed. "Ah, my clothes became ragged. Do you know of a place where I could get some?"
Kaeya snapped out of his trance, "Clothing? I'll ask my friend if she has some. I think you and her have the same size. I'll go ask for some spare clothing"
The knight abruptly stood up and rushed outside the infirmary. It was a good thing that Amber was passing by the infirmary so he pulled her towards the side.
"Ack-! Kaeya! What's going on with you?" Amber frowned at the knight and she crossed her arms. "The festivities need new ornaments and I need to place these orders for wreaths. What do you need?"
"I need some extra clothing, there's someone that the knights found yesterday night." Kaeya sounded like someone shady to Amber but she nevertheless sighed, "I'm not trying to take some of your clothes as a souvenir. I'm not a sick person"
The outrider nodded, "I heard about it. Give me a moment, I'll take the clothing to the infirmary. Go and keep her in company, though what's her name anyways?"
Kaeya froze, "Oh no.. I haven't asked her name yet!"
He was just so panicking that he haven't even asked the female's name yet. Amber looked at Kaeya with dismay, it was rare to see him panicking and it was honestly just amusing to the outrider. So she smirked at the knight and nudged his arm.
"It's my first time seeing you this panicking Kaeya, maybe you like the stranger?"
"No, I'm not used to working with females that are not within the knights okay? Just.. go and give me the extra clothing" Kaeya frowned and abruptly walked back to the infirmary.
The female was standing in front of the huge window, looking at the children who were playing on the snow. It seems to be making her smile and resonate with their joy. Kaeya cleared his throat which made her turn her head and smile at the knight.
"I haven't gotten your name yet kind sir, my name is (Y/n)" she humble mumbled and smiled at the knight, something about her smile just made Kaeya's stomach flutter. "Being a knight is a hard work isn't it..?"
A small smile pulled up on Kaeya's lips, keep it together. "My name's Kaeya, and yeah sure.. but after every mission, there's this sense of fulfillment that makes everything worthwhile"
(Y/n) laughed and sat down on the bed, "I really like the spirit of Christmas here. The children seems to be in high spirits and everything is just so.. magical"
Kaeya shrugged, "Not really. Though I have to ask how you ended up wandering on the streets. Don't you have a family or something?"
The female sighed, "I can't remember anything. I just see blurry visions of my past memory but that's it."
Kaeya didn't questioned it further, but some part of him wanted to help her regain her memories. But he didn't wanted to scare the girl since they just met so he made an assignment for himself to get her trust.
Someday, he will finally get her trust and maybe he won't be so much awkward with other girls.
