When all the soldiers returned to their tents for the night, there was much unneeded tension in ours. I just wanted to scream at everyone for being so stupid.
Heh, maybe it would be a great idea to teach John French. That way, he doesn't get so worked up over nothing. Truthfully, what Laf said wasn't all that bad. It was just the way he said it. If I were to analyze the conversation, I said I wanted to hear his French again. I guess he assumed I meant I like it when he speaks it, which isn't a lie, but it doesn't matter to me what he speaks. He said, "If you like me better like this, I can continue," which means he wants me to like him? His English is good. It's not like I don't like him when he speaks English. This is so confusing.
...Does Laf like me? And what about John? I'm still unsure if he asked me to the ball because he likes me or because he's trying to be a good friend. If worst comes to worst and they both like me, I guess that would explain the tension between them, especially if they both knew the other one liked me.
Even though it feels nice to know someone cares about me, in my world, I would just make us all friends again if it meant we could all get along. I really meant what I said that it was unacceptable to have in-fighting. The general doesn't need any of our problems to worry more about, and it could affect us on the battlefield, too. Let's just hope we can all be civil when we wake up and get over this stupid event.
I went to sleep peacefully tonight, despite everything.
