"What's going on?" I asked her. As soon as she heard my voice she spun around and blocked my view.

"Nothing, everything is fine." she told me through a hoarse voice.

I gave her a confused look before I pushed past her to see what was going on.

"Klarissa, wait!" she yelled as she reached for my arm.

But it was to late. I saw Lorenzo laying on the floor with a bunch of people surrounded around him.

Panic started to pulse through my body and my eyes started to water. I felt like my feet were stuck to the floor, I was in shock.

"You shouldn't be in here." I heard Angelo say quietly to me while he wrapped his arm around my shoulder.

"Come." he said to me as he slowly guided me to somewhere else in the house. Once we arrived in the sitting room, he walked over to one of the sofas and sat down next to me.

"What happened?" I managed to get out through my tears.

"He'll be fine, don't worry about him." he said quickly. I could tell through his tone that he didn't even believe his own words.

"How-" I started.

"That's a pretty necklace, where did you get it?" he asked interrupting. I could tell that he was trying his best to distract me from the situation at hand. I guess it was kind of working.

"Lorenzo gave it to me this morning." I answered quietly. I felt my hand go up to grab it, almost instinctively.

"Really?" he asked while letting a low chuckle leave his mouth.

"Yeah, why are you laughing?" I asked with confusion.

"I don't think I've ever seen him buy a woman diamonds before." he said as a smile still played at his lips.

I looked at him with awe and wonder.

"Promise me you won't worry about him. He'll back to buying you diamonds soon enough." he told me as he started to get up.

"Okay, I promise." I told him trying my best not to cry.

"I have business to attend to, but I'll send Gianna over to sit with you." he told me as he started to walk away.

"Okay thanks Angelo." I said as he walked away.

As much as I wanted to stay and talk to Angelo some more, I knew that he now has the entire Italian mafia to run.

Lorenzo's POV

Pain. All I felt was pain all over my body.

This wasn't the type of pain that I am used to. I much prefer the feeling of gunshot wounds over whatever this is.

After a couple minutes of laying still in my bed, I decided to finally open my eyes. The room was dark and rather small, which gave me the impression that I was in one of the guest bedrooms.

"You feeling better?" I heard Angelo's voice ask me.

At first I was a little startled by his new found presence in the room, but it was nice to have him in here.
