'elizabeth. elizabeth come on. wake up'.
'lily?' i asked blearily, opening my eyes. everything was still fuzzy. 'no' he sighed 'it's draco. come on. we have to go'. i sat bolt upright 'lily. where's lily?'.
'she's outside. we have to get you to the car now, while everyone is distracted. can you walk? you've lost a lot of blood?'.
'i can walk' i nodded, scrambling to my feet. i could somehow, although it was rather uncoordinatedly.i followed him out the door, stopping short when i saw what was unfolding in front of me. there was easily another twenty or so of the men working for lily, they must have been stationed nearby, just incase. blaise, neville, emma, cedric and peter were all attempting to fight them, whether it was to take them down or keep them distracted like draco said i had no idea. nobody but peter was really much use, but then i guess nobody else had magic powers. i immediately attempted to run down the steps towards them, draco pulling me back. 'stop it' he whispered in my ear, holding me firmly by the waist 'we need to get you out of here as quietly as possible. the ministry officers are on the way for lily and the workers. they already picked up her parents as soon as we called them'.
'i have to help fight' i protested weakly.
'elizabeth they all want you. if you go out there, this is over'.i grimaced, watching as a spell hit neville and he cried out. 'nev' blaise gasped, immediately turning his attention to see if neville was okay. and in turn, getting hit himself. peter was making his way
through the crowd effortlessly, simply tilting his head to the side and in turn, snapping theirs. i watched as the bodies piled up, each new person dropping to the floor.emma threw another spell, sending them back away from blaise and neville. i had forgotten how good she was at spells. maybe me and lily should have paid more attention in school, clearly we were going to be useless compared to emma if we ever had to duel in real life. although i reckoned i could probably put up a pretty good physical fight, i'd always been a good fighter. lily could never, she'd always been frail and weak, although now i knew that was because she was sick. she couldn't even open her own cans or water bottles. despite everything, i hated myself for never having noticed that she was sick. this was probably all karma, in a way. i bought the anorexia story without a second thought, i hadn't even noticed my best friend wasting away in front of me. poor lily. lily. where was lily now?
lily was standing at the very back, looking like she didn't really know which side to fight on. 'lily. we need to get to lily'.
'what?' draco asked bewildered, turning to look at me. i watched as several ministry vans pulled up, a variety of officers piling out and going straight for lily. 'NO' i screamed, struggling to be free of draco 'LEAVE HER. LEAVE HER PLEASE. THIS WASN'T HER FAULT'. they ignored me, storming towards her and grabbing her arms. she struggled for a minute against them, but one of them injected her with something in the back of the neck and she immediately went limp. my screams got louder. 'LET ME GO DRACO' i struggled, thrashing out and kicking him in the shin. he let go of me temporarily, giving me a chance to run.i took it, sprinting towards lily. i got close too, all the way down the steps and half way across the gravel towards the car, even despite the wooziness and spinning ground beneath me, before the floor was pulled from underneath me, sending me flying. i crumpled in a heap in the gravel, sobbing. blood loss disorientation was way worse than drugs. 'LILY' i screamed, my voice breaking as i attempted to stand and scramble towards her. an officer grabbed me, pulling me away from the van they were hauling her into the back off. 'NO. PLEASE. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. LILY WAKE UP. RUN'. she didn't wake up and i felt my heart break as the van door slammed shut, driving back off the way it came. the others; now loaded full of the workers, most of whom who had gone without resistance, followed suit.
