POV: Jackson Avery

This gash was really bad, it was all different colors and deep, " She never complained about the pain from this gash." I said out loud to start a conversation with the group. " She was starving herself and she didn't get any sleep so I don't think she could feel the pain," Jo told me.  I sighed and looked back at the nasty gash. " I'll finish this up another day, she needs some rest," I said cleaning up my instruments. We put her in a different room this time, She was hooked up to all sorts of machines, we skipped her EEG scan until later she would wake up. We also paged Shepard to do a neuro check on her a couple of times. She was supposed to wake up by now. Grey, Wilson, Bailey, Hunt, Shepard, Link, and I all came and checked on her while she was still asleep. It was her second-day post-op, I was checking in when I heard some nurses talking about her by the window, " she is getting all this attention for what?, I mean she is just making herself worse for attention, just to make some stupid doctor friends." they giggled about that.

I heard what they just said, and couldn't believe it. " What did you just say?" I said with all my anger inside of me. They both looked embarrassed "Oh nothing, uh-  Dr. Avery we weren't talking-" I cut them off " No actually you were, you guys have no idea what she's been through, She doesn't have any family to stay by her side her parents died when she was 11 and now her only brother died of cancer, She was raped and attacked twice in this damn hospital she had over 5 different surgeries and more on the way, she is depressed and it's bad and now she is in stage 2 kidney failure. All of this is not for some little attention from doctors, She is all alone and she is still a child, We are taking care of her because that is what she needs.  Now go do your job and stop judging patients "I yelled back at them while they were running back to their desks.

I walked into her room praying that she will wake up, and all I thought in my head was "She's all alone, She's all alone." I got up and took the bandage off her gash, I left the room to check up on my burn patients, and then her B.P started to rise, she was choking on her tube, I did the same routine every time, " On 3, spit the tube out okay, 1, 2, 3, great job." she opened her eyes and put her hand on her stomach and head. "What happened? Where am I? Where is?" she said in a frightened tone. She was looking all over the place. " Hey it's me, Jackson," I said while flashing a light in her eyes and checking her ears.
