. . . the flower shop

CLEMENTINE tried to hold in a giggle as she fixed the flower arrangement that was going to go on display. "Someone's going to walk in." She warned the person who stood behind her, with their arms wrapped around her waist, peppering her neck with kisses.

"Let them." He whispered into her ear. Clementine couldn't help but let out a laugh as she turned to face him, hooking her own arms around his neck, and leaning against the table she was just facing.

"You would like that wouldn't you." She hummed before their lips connected. "My dad will be here soon." Clementine hummed as she looked over at the clock that hung near the door. "He'll have your head if he finds you back here." She warned as she somehow escaped the boy's clasp.

"Did you wanna go to the fair, once you've finished up here?" He asked as he watched the girl work.

"I can't. I promised Tommy that I'd look after Maddie while he and the boys went to the fair." Clementine answered as she shot a look at the clock again.

"Of course." The cosy atmosphere the two had just had, had suddenly changed into a dark one. "The fucking Shelby's."

"If you're going to be in a rotten mood then you can leave." Clementine said, not at all looking affected by the sudden mood change. Most of the men in Small Heath were either scared of the Peaky Blinders or the IRA ━━ two groups the girl seemed to have connections to ━━ and those who weren't scared seemed to get angry when she seemed to spend quite a lot of time with them.

William didn't seem to like the reaction he had gotten from the blonde and just stormed out of the shop, slamming the door as if that would do something.

Clementine just let out a sign as she squeezed her eyes shut, as she tried to let the mood change roll off her. She and William had been seeing each other for a few weeks, and she had hoped ━━ really hoped ━━ that he wouldn't have been like the other boys she had been with.

It was the bell above the door that snapped Clementine's eyes open as she plastered on a smile, ready to greet whoever walked through the door. But she paused slightly as she saw a few men in police uniforms standing before her.

"Are you Miss O'Reilly?" An Irish man asked as he stood in front of the uniformed officers.

"Who's asking?" Clementine asked, not knowing what was going on. She recognised a few of the officers and knew that they recognised her.

          Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

The Irish man just nodded to a few of the officers before he walked closer to the young blonde, "I was hoping that you could tell us where your father might be." He said as Clementine tried to walk closer to the counter, a place she knew her father hid a gun. "You see, I'm an old friend of his and I just got into town, and I was told this was where he worked."
