"Five people?" Chenle exclaimed. Mark nodded his head.
The group of head counsellor friends were gathered in Chenle's lounge, listening to what Mark had to say about his quest and his prophecy.
Taeyong and the other trainers had made the decision to get Mark to lead a quest to find Dasom and her group. Not only had they not finished their quest but apparently, there has been no contact between the group and the camp, plus they haven't been spotted for the past few days. It was clear that something had gone wrong.
"At least it's an odd number." Haechan commented. "Better chance than Dasom's."
"Don't say that." Jisung told him. "Five people still isn't ideal."
"Well there's nothing we can do about it." Mark said with a sigh. "The prophecy was quite clear about it being five people."
"What was the prophecy?" Chenle asked.
Haerin watched as Mark raised his eyebrows in thought, looking up at the ceiling as he tried to remember it.
"Together, you and four others head out,
To a place when you can no longer scream or shout,
Stone surrounds those you call your friends,
Where you will discover the truth in the end.""Cryptic as always." Haechan groaned. "Great."
"So I'm guessing you're bringing us five?" Chenle asked. Mark nodded his head.
"Dasom's group had such strong demigods and it still went wrong. I'm going to need all the help I can get." Mark told them. "We leave tomorrow morning."
Haerin watched as the boys nodded their heads, getting up to prepare. Mark turned around, staring at her. "You coming?"
That's when everything finally registered in Haerin's head, her jaw dropping as she blinked.
"Wait, I'm going on this quest?!"
...
"What do I even pack?" Haerin mumbled as she stared at the empty backpack in front of her.
In her short amount of time at Camp Half-Blood, Haerin didn't really have any new additions to her belongings. She opened up the first drawer of her wardrobe to see Mark's sweater sitting there.
I guess I could pack this.
Suddenly, she heard knocking and exited her room to open the door to the cabin. Haerin was surprised to see Mark standing there.
Mark was wearing a black zip-up hoodie, the hood over his head. Underneath was a red t-shirt and grey sweatpants, black slides on his feet. His hair was slightly damp, and from the smell Mark was emitting, it was definitely from a recent shower.
"Hey." Mark said, rubbing the back of his neck. "Do you uh.. need help packing?"
"Very much so." Haerin said, widening the door. "I have no idea what I'm doing."
"What I pack depends on who I'm going with." Mark told her as they entered her room. "With Jisung, Chenle, and Haechan, there's no need to pack snacks because that's all their bags are going to have that."
Haerin smiled at the comment. "Somehow, I'm not surprised."
"Yeah, I'm just packing clothes and my glasses." Mark said, sitting down on her bed. "You should probably do the same."
"This is kind of all I have right now." Haerin said, passing Mark her backpack as she went to grab some more clothes. She glanced over at him as she noticed he was awfully quiet. "Is something wrong?"
