Final Test

                                    

                                          
We walked out onto a raised platform, with the floor far below us. 
                          
Eval's face flashed across the wall again. "This is your final challenge." 
                          
A pale orange, holographic diamond appeared on the wall. It had a dot in the middle. A section of the platform pushed up, revealing a sniper rifle. 
                          
"Hit five targets, and you win." This time his face didn't flash away when he was done talking. 
                          
The Sakiyan stepped forward and hefted the sniper from its place. The holographic target started moving. The Sakiyan landed the first four shots, but missed on the fifth. The platform dropped out from under him, plunging him into the firy abyss below. 
                          
"Next." Eval prompted, mirth saturating his voice. 
                          
We all looked at each other anxiously. 
                          
Master Kenobi stepped forward. "I'll give it a shot." 
                          
Eval smirked. "I was hoping it would be you, Hardeen." 
                          
Master Kenobi grabbed the rifle when it appeared. 
                          
I held my breath. 
                          
He landed the first shot, then the second. The third shot collided with the target. I started to relax as he made the fourth one, but my heart stopped when the sniper stopped firing. 
                          
Master Kenobi pulled the trigger for his final shot, but nothing happened. Eval has rigged the challenge. 
                          
The platform dropped and I tried not to scream. I flinched forward, but knew I couldn't do anything. 
                          
To my surprise, Bane launched his cable and caught Master Kenobi before he fell. "If you're going to kill him, do it like a man." 
                          
"I agree." Lord Tyranus' unnervingly soothing voice could be heard over the recording. 
                          
Soon, Eval was in the room, standing on the now extinguished floor below us. A pillar rose up to Master Kenobi and carried him down to the floor. 
                          
Eval pressed a button and a maze pushed out of the floor. 
                          
Master Kenobi maneuvered quickly around corners and over obstacles. He managed to get to Eval and smash the band on his wrist that allowed the Phindian to control The Box. Soon, Master Kenobi stood, holding Eval over the flames that surrounded the battle ground. He was ready to drop the cowering alien, but he stopped himself. 
                          
I breathed a sigh of relief as the platform holding the rest of us aloft lowered into the floor. There were six of us left, including Eval. 
                          
"Congratulations." Tyranus showed on the wall. "You have conquered The Box and proven yourselves worthy assets for this mission." He examined his team - Bane, Eval, Embo, Derrown, Twazzi, Master Kenobi and I. "Cad Bane will lead the mission. You all take orders from him now."
