~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was very rudely woken, AT 12 AM MIGHT I ADD, by banging on my door. I lay there for a while thinking that it may be a dream but the banging didn't stop. I realised that if this was my dream, a bear would've broken in and tried to maul my face off by now followed by a giant shark with glittering fairy wings, a wand and a large pink hairdo.
I got up and made my way as quickly as I could so I could make whoever it was stop. Of course, I had a head rush and stumbled into walls a few times but eventually got to my front door. Looking through the little peephole, I saw Tom looking quite out of breath. I freaked out a little until I remembered he knew where I lived from a while back since we had worked at mine for a project.
Could've been very creepy otherwise
I opened it and stepped back as to not get a fist to the face. He looked at me wide-eyed and stepped in quickly, closing the door behind him. He was gasping for air while he held his head in his hands. He slowly slid down so he was sat on the floor leaning against the door. I crouched down and placed a hand on his shoulder.
I wasn't really good at comforting people. I'm more of the type of person to just push all my feelings deep down until I cry it out on my own.
Raven, you idiot, say something.
"You ok?", was the best I seemed to be able to come up with.
REALLY?! WOW!! HE OBVIOUSLY ISN'T OK, YOU STUPID!
"Well obviously you aren't ok but er, I umm, I'll grab you some water", yes, now you can work as a first aider from primary schools. Handing out water like it's a magical remedy capable of healing the worst of wounds. Right after that, put a blue paper towel on it and bam, you're being awarded your license with a pat on the back.
God forbid I ever actually comfort anyone.
I got up quickly, rushed to the kitchen, grabbed a glass and filled it with water. I walked back and kneeled next to him, handing him the glass. As he drank it, I sat next to him and helped him calm down. At first, we sat for a bit in silence while I awkwardly rubbed his back as he drank his water ever so slowly. Soon after, I gave him a hand up and walked him to my living room. We sat down and without a word I turned on Brooklyn nine-nine again, not too sure what else he would like to watch.
After about an episode, he looked very calm and relaxed. His breathing seemed to return to normal and his face looked much less tense. I almost let out a sigh of relief.
"Not to pry but I have questions", I said as I stopped Netflix from automatically turning on the next episode.
"Ask away", he looked at me with no emotion.
"Why'd you come here?"
"I needed to go somewhere where I know I wasn't capable of breaking something."
"What made you want to break stuff?"
"Just a disagreement with someone. Nothing I need you worrying about."
"Trust me, I don't worry about stuff", I know I should've asked why he wanted to break stuff again but I didn't want to pry too much just yet.
He cracked a smile and looked off towards the tv.
"Its nothing."
"You would've broken my door down had I took too long. I don't think that's nothing. I'm surprised you didn't wake the entire building. Are you sure you're ok?"
"Yeah, I'm ok now. Thank you for that, by the way", he said giving me a genuine smile.
"You're welcome."
