Sokka POV

I may not be the most careful person you've ever met, but I'm allowed to drive a car. I know. I'm super cool. You know who's super careful and NOT allowed to drive a car? Katara. It may be because she's like fifteen but whatever.

I'm waiting in the school parking lot for Katara because apparently I'm 'not allowed to make her walk home anymore.' I'm also 'not allowed to pretend I'm gonna let her into the car and then slightly drive forward when she's about to get in.' Lame rules.

As I wait, I see Zuko walking by. The only class I have with him is Interior Design, and we didn't have that today, so this is the first time I'm seeing him. Now, this doesn't necessarily mean I have to say hi to him, but I'm going to.

I roll down my window. "Zuko!" He only nods at me in acknowledgement. "No, dude, come over here!"

He rolls his one mobile eye, but acquiesces and comes over to my car anyway.

"Your face is a mess," I observe.

"Yeah? You should see Jet's, then."

"Oh, I saw it." And he looks so much worse than Zuko does. "What'd you do after leaving yesterday? Wait around at his house and then jump him when he got home?"

"Pretty much. Except I waited around in his house, not outside it."

"That's breaking and entering."

"No, his dad let me in."

I would ask how Jet's dad felt about Zuko kicking his son's ass, but I don't think I actually want to know. Besides, I see Katara coming, and I don't know how much of Zuko's personal life she's privy to.

"Hi, Zuko," she greets, reaching for the passenger side door. I lock it before she can open it.

"We're taking Zuko home," I decide without consulting him first. "He's older and cooler so he gets shotgun."

She looks a little annoyed, but moves to the backseat door nonetheless. Only once she's buckled her seatbelt do I unlock the passenger door.

"Okay, get in," I say to Zuko.

"Jet looks a little worse for wear," Katara brings up casually. "That's good."

Zuko slides into the passenger seat and turns to face Katara. "You're familiar with his shenanigans, then?"

"We used to date," she reveals.

"So you're very familiar with his shenanigans."

"I'm familiar with his shenanigans!" I say, just because I want to be involved. Shenanigans is such a funny word.

"Can you be familiar with driving?" Katara sasses. "Some of us have places to be."

"Oh, right." I put the car in gear, having completely forgotten that I'm the one in the driver's seat. I'm still used to my dad driving.

I drop Zuko off at his house first, obviously. Once he exits the car, I watch until he's inside before I start moving again.

"You are so in love with him!" Katara accuses, climbing over the center console to get into the passenger seat.

"I am not!" I argue, choosing to fight this battle instead of the one about her changing seats in a moving car. "Why do you even think that?"

"Because it's so obvious!"

"You don't even know stuff about love." I decide to be childish because, quite frankly, I am a child. "You're too young."

"I'm one year younger than you."

"Too young."
