Brother William Von Wölfhart, a knight of the Order of His Majesty Geolias, rushed as if the devil himself was chasing him deep in the dark forest north of Agatha. His chain armor was encrusted with mud. Twigs and grass were stuck between his hair and beard, and dried blood covered his face. It wasn't simply his blood. His chapped lips bled as he muttered futile prayers. His long sword's sheath danced empty on his hip. With his open, feverish, steely eyes, he searched the dark woodland around him. Tracks in the loamy dirt pointed him in the right direction. Or not?He noticed streaks of black blood staining the old trees here and there. He passed several remains while fleeing. All of his deceased brothers. Helmets, gloves, and boots were all emblazoned with knight's blood and, on occasion, bits of skin and hair. All indications that he was the sole survivor. They had left their hallowed chapel for the king's metropolis five days ago. The beast that had pursued them had cut their excursion short. It seemed to not attempt to hide its traces. What's the point? Who would be so stupid as to go after it?! What fool could handle such a beast? Against a creature that hunted people like rabbits were hunted? The beast killed six men in a matter of minutes, and many more had undoubtedly gone before them. It was still there; he could feel it. He could still smell it. The faint odor of charred wood indicates its presence. William appears to be trapped in the dark maze of branches by the cold air. He was startled by the sound of leather boots. He yelled for rescue in a frantic attempt, but no one could hear him. Not only that, but he began to run faster, not knowing where he was headed. He peeked warily over his shoulder after a few feet to keep the thing from following him. The beast, of course, followed him. It would not allow him to live. Finally, in the distance, he noticed the lights of a little settlement. He nearly passed out and rushed as fast as he could to the settlement. He was rescued! In addition, he would live ! Happiness tears appeared. A few seconds ago, he feared he'd never see dawn or feel the warmth of the sun on his face again." Help!" he wailed, his voice raspy. Two heavily armed guards approached him, peering into the darkness. "Stop!" yelled the left guard, as the right kept asking, "Who's going there?" "What are you looking for in o thú?" "I am Brother William; please allow me to enter your humble village; there is a monster on its way!" I tell you, a monster!!" The guards exchanged surprised glances before seizing the man suspiciously.
The headmaster was arrogantly awakened by a loud bouncing. "Who's there," he yelled, and went on; "who dares to interrupt me?! He adjusted his nightcap and gazed at the soldier standing in the doorway. "I'm sorry to wake you up, my lord, but there is something that requires your attention, and it cannot wait." "Wake me up in the morning." "My Lord, the beast," the guard muttered. The headmaster nodded as he examined the guard. He walked the halls with two guards holding his torch moments later. The left guard banged on the wooden door three times and waited for the viewing window to open. An older man's harsh face revealed. "Open," the soldier yelled. The door swung open with a jarring sound. "I swear," yelled Brother William. His hands were chained to the wall, and a man wielding a white-hot sword stood next to him."Speak the truth, or I'll burn your liver out," he said with a grin. "Enough," the headmaster said. "This is not required. In a soothing tone, he inquired, "What did you see?""Nothing, my lord," William muttered quietly. It appeared out of nowhere. It appeared as a shadow and then vanished like a mosquito. I was aware of it. It roared and hissed. It was... as bad as the devil. He ate my men like they were mushrooms. It murdered two of my greatest warriors with a single blow. It was the monster!" The headmaster raised his head slowly. "Are you sure about this?" "As sure as the moon is in the sky, my lord." "Warn the entire village. Give a weapon to anyone capable of carrying one. What we feared for is right." The guards nodded and made their way away. "And this one, my lord" the martyr inquired. "He won't survive the night anyway," the headmaster said as he walked out of the dungeon, ignoring Brother William's pleas. Young men and their fathers were dragged out of their beds. They had been armed and ordered to the square with no explanation. While troops prepared everyone, women were left wailing. When a soldier saw a youngster with his helmet slipping over his eyes, his gut churned. The youngster had not yet reached the age of fourteen summers, and now he stood armed, ready to protect the hamlet against something he could never comprehend. No one believed the reports of evil brought by the traders, stories of robbed towns where no one was alive, and destroyed farms where cattle had been disfigured until William arrived because his description was precise enough. The man's terrified expression said it all. The monster from hell, the terror that paralyzed man and child. Everything was true. And now the beast had come, hungry and hunting for prey... The terrified expressions were riveted on the dark edge of the woodland.
They were all duped, though, for Hate did not emerge from the trees. Hate rose among them... Unannounced, people began screaming and howling. Everyone tried to defend themselves, but they were helpless... The monster was unbeatable.
