Y'all would understand this penthouse thing soon, just be patient with me♡
I needed Quinton.
It's Monday and I still haven't gone back to the apartment. I've been at the penthouse since Saturday afternoon. I've only responded to them to let them know we were fine. I finally saw what Quinton saw. Now, after a day and a half, it would pain me to take the puppy away from Declan. He loves it so much and he's already trying to teach the dog tricks.
I did not win the small argument with Declan on naming the dog Whiskey. Mainly, because I didn't want to tell him the whole alcohol talk as yet, and honestly the name is harmless.
Anyway, back to the main point. I needed Quinton. There was no way I could leave work early after what happened with the doctor's appointment. I mean, I can still try and if I can't then I'm going to have to man up and call my brother. I'm still too stubborn.
We both had cereal and milk for breakfast, then we got ready and left. After dropping him off at school, I made my way to work anxiously. Celia, the girl at the front desk in the lobby offered to take care of Whiskey while I was at work. She was familiar with dogs and loved them to death so I didn't have a problem trusting her with the puppy.
I walked into Kolson's office without a notice and as expected, he was filling out forms. "Please just don't get angry," I started. "You need to understand that I have a life outside of this job and I can get you in trouble for being unfair and mistreating me at work," I lowkey threatened. Kolson nodded again, leaning back in his chair.
"I need to leave early. I have something to do," I blurted out. His eyebrows furrow in confusion and the tension ticked higher and higher. "How early?" He finally asked. "Thirty minutes probably," I mumbled. He nodded, caught up in his thoughts. "You can but as you can tell, there's a lot of work to get done before the upcoming gala. It's my first and needs to be huge so, unfortunately, I'll need you to work overtime with me," Kolson revealed.
Trapped in an empty building with Kolson for hours alone? I don't think so.
"Sure," I agreed nevertheless, leaving his office with a smile on my face, and for the rest of the day, I tried not to think about working overtime with him. I got to work with a factory letter I needed to respond to when I phone rang in my pocket. Unfortunately, I answered it without even looking at the name. "You answered, I'm surprised," I heard Alton say softly and I froze. "Goodbye," I spoke and was about to hang up.
"Please no!" He stopped me. "I need to apologize. It was messed up and I genuinely wanted to go on a date with you but I realized I was using you to get over my feelings for Rena. Just don't be pissed at me," Alton begged and I rolled my eyes. I can't really be upset with Alton since we weren't actually together but it was still wrong. He practically begged me to go on a date with him then I find him making out with another girl. It disgusted me and to be honest, I don't think I could get over that right now.
"I'm not, I just want some space. We're cool," I replied. I hear him exhale in relief," thank God. I'll give you your space just don't hesitate to call me if you need me alright?" He assured me. "Yes, goodbye now," I mumbled, already typing away the letter I had to do. "Bye," he stated before he ended the call. I put my phone away and went back to work.
However, twenty minutes later my phone rang. I chose to ignore it since I was doing work and I could call back the person on my ten minutes break.
"Shaw Creations," I happily spoke into the phone while signing off my last words on the letter. "It's Shaw," I froze," how are you Siya?" Verrin asked. I took a couple of seconds to reply to that," I'm fine actually. How are you?" I replied.
Verrin gave me a short laugh and I can picture him shaking his head. "I'm sure you are. I know we haven't been in contact since I left and well the whole Kol situation. So do you want to have dinner with me tonight? There is someone I really want you to meet," he rambled off. I was genuinely curious, I forgot his girlfriend's name but in the last talk a couple of months ago he was planning on proposing. Then he stopped talking about her and everyone stopped asking. I assumed they were going through a rough patch.
"I'm staying late at the office today," I sighed out the lie. Kolson never said today but I rather not go to this dinner for some reason. Plus, who would babysit Declan? I was hoping for some alone time with him tonight. Maybe we can have a movie night. "Just ask that dumbass to change it to tomorrow, please," Verrin begged. How could I do that though?
My thoughts ran to the possibilities. Maybe Celia could babysit him or I'll probably have to go running back to Quinton. "How important is this? I'm a busy person," I asked. "Very important. We can discuss what would happen when you leave and with your new project and stuff," Verrin mumbled, saying more things to persuade me. "I can't stay too long if I come," I warned. "Just one hour at least, It's at Crave for eight tonight," he informed me. Crave, fuck they have yummy food.
Declan should be asleep around eight. This could actually be possible. "Okay fine, I'll be there," I sighed. Of course, he squealed. "Thank you so much for coming, I really want you to meet her," Verrin said. "Yeah sure," I mumbled before hanging up the call and getting back to work.
I guess I'm going home.
This dinner better be worth it.

Declan ran into the apartment first, Whiskey following which pulled me in since I was holding his leech. "Siya," Sage spot me first. She was holding her camera and immediately stopped rolling. "I have a thing with Verrin and a surprise guest so mom said she would look over him," I revealed.
"What? I usually do that. Did you call her already? Please cancel. You and Quinton had a fight. He didn't mean anything he said, you should have seen how torn up he was over it," Sage frowned. So he regrets it? That makes both of us. "Are you sure?" I gave in. "Yes! He is awesome at decorating my thumbnails," she grinned. She was right, Declan goes crazy with the stickers.
"Please mommy? They're really fun," Declan, once again, showed off his puppy eyes. "Fine," I sighed and they both cheered. At least I didn't call my mom as yet.
The couple of hours I had left, I helped Sage make dinner with Declan as my assistant of course. Chelsea and Quinton still hadn't returned home and I was lowkey thankful because I did not want to deal with my brother today. After getting dressed in something comfortable yet formal, I grabbed a cute purse and kissed Declan goodnight.
"Don't look at me like that," I scoffed at whiskey, turning away from his adorable eyes. I grabbed my coat since the weather was getting very chilly at night before leaving.
