I slowly sat up in bed, careful of the three-month belly I now sported. Which, with twins, was quite a belly. Especially considering one was a giant.
"Jaylin!" Gloxinia came over then I laughed as he helped me stand, Drole coming up the stairs and to the door, helping me dress for the day.
"Guys, seriously, I can-"
"Let us spoil you, please." Drole said and I saw that, if I wanted them to give me some sort of privacy, then I should let them spoil me.
"Alright, my loves." I said then Gloxinia went around me and braided my hair as Drole buttoned the top of my dress, smoothing it out over my belly.
"There you go." Gloxinia said and I smiled as we left the room. Drole held my hand as we went downstairs, but I screamed as I slipped on something and Drole barely caught me after I slid down at least four steps.
"Jaylin?!" The sins ran over, but I felt a really bad pain in my stomach. Merlin ran over then grabbed me, holding me with a hand on my stomach.
"Get her to the lab!" She ordered and Drole lifted me, Gloxinia right behind us as we went to the lab with the others.
"What happened?!" Merlin asked, but Gloxinia spoke.
"She-she slipped on something on the steps!" He said then Elizabeth came over and touched my stomach, using her goddess healing to help.
"Keep doing that, Elizabeth! It may be their only chance!" Merlin admitted then held my hand, feeling my head.
"Everyone get out!" She yelled, but my husbands weren't moving.
"Guys, come on." Diane coaxed and they looked at me, but left.
Drole's POV
For the first time in over three thousand years, I felt pure fear and terror at the thought that I might lose my children. I looked at Gloxinia, who looked just as worried. Like the giant race, fairy babies were a rarity and were often treasured by the entire clan when one was born."They'll be okay." I looked at Lady Elaine, but went to the stairs to find what Jay slipped on. When I got there, I kicked the red shoe aside and stormed upstairs, grabbing Ban and slamming him to the wall.
"Drole!"
"Hey, man-"
"You left your shoes on the stairs!" I growled then his crimson eyes went wide.
"I-I swear I moved them!" He said then Elaine grabbed my arm.
"Drole, I saw him get them off the stairs-"
"Then how was it on the very step she slid on?!" I growled, really wishing I could kill Ban the Undead.
"I don't know, but this won't help Jaylin-"
"Neither will just standing here!" I snarled, but turned as a soft hand grabbed my arm and saw Glox.
"Drole, it's okay." He said then I let Ban go, though I punched Ban's head in and he fell to the ground, but he was already healing.
"We'll figure it out, but you're not helping the situation." Glox whispered to me and I nodded, clenching all four fists as I eyed the door to the lab. When it opened, Merlin looked really sad, but she waved Gloxinia and me in. We went to Jaylin, but I relaxed as I saw her smile.
"They're all okay." Merlin said and I visibly sagged against the table, holding Jay's hand as Gloxinia grinned, closing his eyes and standing on the ground.
"Thank the gods!" Gloxinia whispered then I looked at Elizabeth and nodded, owing her the life of my children and my wife.
"Thank you, Princess." I whispered and she nodded, standing there with a smile.
"I'm just happy none were lost today!" She said and I nodded, looking at Jaylin and brushing her hair back.
"How do you feel?" I asked and Gloxinia looked at her then she smiled.
"A little sore, but I'm okay." She said and I nodded, kissing her head. I lingered a second, Gloxinia kissing her head next, then I stood and looked at Merlin.
"Can you tell who left Ban's shoe on the stair?" I asked and she seemed confused.
"I could, but he's been the most meticulous about his things because he wanted to avoid a situation like this. I know it wasn't him-"
"Ki-King Drole?" I looked at Elizabeth then she cleared her throat.
"It may have been me, this morning. I was doing laundry and dropped something. I was on my way to get it when she fell-"
"It was an accident then, you didn't just leave it there." Gloxinia said and I forced myself not to be angry with the princess, because Gloxinia was right. She hadn't just set it down and left it there, she was on her way to retrieve it, meaning she had no intentions of this happening.
"Please, we're okay." I looked at Jaylin, who was reading me like a book, then nodded and set my lower left hand on her belly.
"I was afraid of the opposite." I whispered and she smiled.
"I know, Drole." She said then I was given a chair by Merlin, who wanted to keep Jaylin in the lab a little longer for observation. This went without saying, but Gloxinia and I both stayed in the lab with her. When she finally left, I carried her down the stairs because I didn't trust them now and no one argued.
"She's released!" Meliodas joked, but Ban came over and looked really scared.
"Jay, I-I'm really sorry-"
"It wasn't your fault, Ban. Elizabeth accidentally dropped it, she was going to get it when I fell." Jaylin said as she stood there, but Ban still looked guilty.
"Yeah, but-"
"Ban, please, you're the sin of Greed. If you had wanted to take our lives, you would have done so without these two around. Then again, you would never get the chance." She said and I watched as he cracked a smile.
"I-I guess you're right-"
"But you guys are okay?!" Diane asked and Jaylin nodded as we sat, her hand on her belly.
"Elizabeth and Merlin saved us." She said and everyone seemed to relax, though none would be as happy as Gloxinia and I were when we heard the news.
