Mortal or Immortal?

                                    

                                          
"Did you request time with the council, Jinnie?"
                          
"I did, I sent the request last night, you saw Mono, didn't you?"
                          
"Erm... I don't think so. I had that warming spell to do for that guy Hobi knows and I think I was busy."
                          
"Oh, okay. Well, she wasn't quiet when she flew in so I thought you'd seen her. Anyway, she took the request and I got a response so it's all good."
                          
Namjoon and Jin had risen extra early and were currently in the elevator in the town hall, entering the code that took them to the secret entrance of Smeraldo. They really hoped that they could get some answers for Jungkook today but had to be prepared for everything.
                          
As the doors opened, the wave of heat hit them, it was always warm in Smeraldo, a constant temperature that was only annoying if you were visiting, otherwise everyone else climatised. The other thing that hit your senses was the perfume, the sweet floral scent that was quite sensual and calming, somewhere along the lines of sweet peas, roses, carnations and a sweet sugary syrup.
                          
They were greeted by everyone who passed them, the couple were well known and well respected in these lands, if not a little feared due to their powerful status. Their union had been one that the High Warlock had celebrated, having taught them both at magic school and seeing them grow. They had both had natural powers that were refined at magic school, it gave them a place to practice in a protected environment and learn ways to control it.
                          
Namjoon had loved Jin immediately, he said that before he had even seen him up close and heard him speak, he knew that he loved him. Jin had tried to play hard to get for a few weeks but hadn't had the strength because he loved Namjoon too and remembers asking his parents if it was okay to love someone before you even knew if you liked them. They had often wondered if they had been fated to be together because of the intensity of their feelings but they had both gelled and everything worked so it didn't really matter. They had been a year apart in school and both were the most powerful in their year, they worked in different ways, had different strengths and their union was celebrated by everyone, with many expecting them to rule Smeraldo one day.
                          
That all changed the day that they became surrogate parents to Tae, taking on that responsibility bound them to the mortal world. Namjoon hadn't expected there to be a choice but there wasn't any discussion to be had, they saved Tae and chose to give up any future job of ruling Smeraldo. They hadn't once regretted that decision as they watched Tae become accustomed to his life as a vampire and deal with the soulmate situation.
                          
"Look at those flowers, they are new." Jin said as they walked through the gardens of the Mighty Cavern.
                          
"Look." Namjoon pointed and took Jin by the hand, spinning him around and kissing him under a stone arch.
                          
"So romantic." Jin swooned.
                          
"One of the best days of my life." Namjoon gushed, running his fingers through his Husband's hair and kissing him sweetly.
                          
"Mine too, you looked so handsome that day." Jin's hands rested on Namjoon's lower back.
                          
"You look handsome every day."
                          
As they kissed under the arch, they both remembered the day they were married right in that very spot. Only special people received the guard of honour from the fairies and the day had been perfect, with everyone there to witness their union.
                          
"Enough with the sentimental stuff, we have a job to do." Jin said, faking a sad face because he wanted nothing more than to stand and kiss Namjoon all day.
                          
The Might Cavern was a royal cavern set in the middle of many smaller buildings that housed the fairies and other magical beings that worked for the council. It was a city within a city and the garden in which they stood was the main one within the walls of the Mighty Cavern. It was basically a royal palace where the High Warlock and Council lived, many apartments and rooms within its walls that didn't appear to be there from the outside.
