Chapter Four:
The song was basically finished and thank god Niall could play the guitar for us if we get accepted into the X Factor. I was more nervous than ever because we would be finding out if we have an audition or not this week. We changed our entry and I even came up with the name One Direction. Of course we were looking for some people to join in but we didn’t want everyone to know that we were actually going out for this.
I was walking in the hallways going to my locker when something caught my eye. I ripped the paper down. “What is this?” I showed the paper to the guys.
“I don’t know. I didn’t do it,” Louis said fixing his messenger bag. I looked at Niall.
He put his hands up in defense. “Don’t look at me. I didn’t do it.”
“Maybe you should ask your girlfriend.”
“She’s not my girlfriend, Louis.”
“Yet,” he said putting pressure on the ‘t’.
I groaned and rolled my eyes. “I still don’t see who would do this.”
“It has to be Sam. She’s the only one that knows about us entering and all,” Niall said putting a piece of gum in his mouth.
“Wait,” Lou said as he took the paper out of my hand. “There’s a slip missing from the bottom.” I looked over his shoulder and surely enough, there was a piece of paper with Sam’s number on it missing.
“Who would want to be in a band with us anyways?”
I shrugged. “I have to get to class.” I shoved passed them, leaving them in the hallway and trudging to my class.
“Was is you,” I asked Sam once I pulled her out of her class.
“Was what me? And how did you get me out of my class?”
“I have my ways.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “Was it you that put up those flyers?”
“Oh, yeah that was me.”
“Why would you do that? We’re perfectly fine with how our band is.”
“Do you really think you can get in with only 3 of you performing? You need an image and none of you have the image that I’m sure the judges are looking for. I did this as a favor but the person that took the tab, I’m not sure you want him in there.”
“Who took the tab?”
She rubbed her arm as if she was cold. “Liam took one.”
“Liam as in Liam Payne? Captain of the football team?” She nodded her head. “Why would he take one?”
She shrugged again. “He always talked about going out and one year he did but he didn’t make it far. But that was when he was younger. I guess he wants to try again. He’s not a bad singer. He’s actually really good. I told him to talk to you guys at lunch and he agreed. Also, my ugly step-brother overheard me talking about it and printing out the papers that he wants in on it too. I don’t know if you’ll want him but he said he’ll give it a go.”
I ran my hands through my curls. “Are you sure they’re good?”
“Liam’s good. I don’t know about Zayn. I haven’t really heard him sing before. I hate him, remember?”
I ignored what she said about hating him. “Tell him to come to my house at 3. I’ll tell Liam the same thing and maybe we can practice the song. Now I have to turn it into a 5 part harmony.”
