Chase and Marshall took charge. Chase and Marshall counted everyone and lead them outside and quietly ran to the other building. They were at a good pace. When they got there, they counted again to realize that one pup was missing. Chase looked back and noticed that the pup was still at the other building, too terrified to move.

"New plan," Chase told Marshall. "You take everyone here down to the basement while I return for the last one."

"Okay, be careful," Marshall said. Marshall led everyone down to the basement. Chase ran back to the other pup.

"Hey, come on, we have to go," Chase told the pup.

"I...I can't," the pup said. "I'm too scared."

"You can do this," Chase replied. "I believe in you."

This gave the pup the motivation he needed. "Okay, I'm ready."

"Good," said Chase. "Now, let's get to it." Chase and the pup started running off. The pup made it to the door and went down the stairs to the basement. Chase, however, did not make it. While he was running, one of the attackers noticed him and tossed a small grenade in front of Chase. The explosion caused Chase to be thrown back. He was still conscious, but his ears were ringing. He looked over to the yard and witnessed the battle. Shots were being fired, explosions here and there. People falling left and right. He witnessed the entire thing happen for what seemed like hours when it was only a couple of minutes.

One of the attackers noticed Chase and threw another grenade at him. Without thinking, Chase grabbed the grenade in his paw and threw it. With all the adrenaline flowing through his body, he threw the grenade into the truck's bed. The attackers jumped out of the truck just as it burst into flames. That was when Chase heard a familiar voice from behind.

"Come on, Chase," his dad said, wearing his battle equipment. "Let's get you out of here." Chase and his dad left for a safer place. They ran towards a storage room. Chase entered but his dad didn't. "Okay, I am going to go help, you stay put." Max closed the door and ran off to the fight.

Chase stayed inside the storage room as quiet as he could be. He could hear the noises of war outside. He heard some attackers right outside. He scooted back away from the door but accidentally tripped on some gardening tools. The tools fell onto the ground and made a loud noise. Seconds later, the attackers opened the door and noticed Chase inside. They tried to get Chase out of the storage, but Chase wasn't going to let that happen. Eventually, the attackers fell to the ground. This gave Chase the chance to escape.

He ran downstairs where Marshall and the others were and waited out the battle. Once it was over, Max and Justin came down and found everyone in the basement, which used to be an open area with only a few rooms in the far wall.

"Is everyone okay?" asked Max.

"We're fine," Marshall said.

"Good," Justin said. "Let's get everyone back to their families."

Everyone went up to see the aftermath of the battle. Two of the trucks have left. The only one left was the one that exploded. Most of the attackers have retreated. The others were captured to find out why they did it. Later on, Chase and Marshall were told that it was a revenge attack planned on some of the soldiers and sergeants at the camp. All the pups returned to their homes. Blaze and Marshall's mom, Misty, came running towards their son.

"Are you okay?" asked Misty as she hugged Marshall.

"Yes, Mom, I'm fine," replied Marshall.

"Blaze?!" asked Max when he noticed the dalmatian.

"Max?!" said Blaze.

"You two know each other?" asked Chase.

"We were best friends when we were your age," Max explained. "But when I got transferred overseas in the Marines and he went off to help as a firedog, we lost contact. We haven't heard from each other since."

"Yeah," Blaze agreed. "You look different."

"Yeah, you too," Max replied. The two friends laughed. "So how are you and your families doing?"

"Well, right now, we are living in the streets," Blaze replied. "We have been for the last few days. Luckily, we have been healthy and well-fed. Our owner's house burned down, ironically, and he can't take care of us and find a new house at the same time. He was going to send us to a shelter, but if we went to the shelter, Marshall wouldn't be able to come to camp and I won't be able to help those in need."

"They can live with us," Chase said. "Can they, Dad?"

"Well, I don't know," said Max. "You would have to ask Justin."

"Please, Justin sir," asked Chase.

Justin examined the dalmatian family. "Okay, they can stay with us until things settle with their owners."

Hearing this news, Chase and Marshall jumped up and down in joy. But little did they know things were going to change forever. Justin, Chase's family, and Marshall's family left towards Justin's house, everyone with a smile on their faces.

After just one week, everyone got along so well that Justin came up with an idea. He talked to Marshall's previous owners, and they agreed to let Justin adopt the family. Their old owners have never seen them so happy, so it wasn't hard to convince them. Justin, Ryder, and Ryder's mom became their owners. Justin, being a police chief and have retired from the Marines at a young age, was given authority over Max and Blaze in the field. Instead of just being a police officer or a firefighter, Justin, alongside Max and Blaze, worked wherever they were needed.

-End of Flashback-

"...Chase and I graduated from the camp the day after Justin adopted me and my family," Marshall explained, finishing the story. "After that, we went from best friends to brothers."

"How were able to deal with that, Chase?" asked Rocky.

"Well, after the incident, I swore to never show fear or be scared again," Chase said. "The incident was the reason why I got PTSD." (A/N: Chase having PTSD, or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, was actually confirmed by the show earlier this year when Chase was being targeted by the media while the show defended him.)

"Really?" asked Rubble. Chase nodded.

The others were astonished by the story. They had no words.

"That was an amazing story," exclaimed Everest, breaking the silence.

"Thanks," Chase and Marshall said in unison.

Within two hours of the story being told, almost everyone was asleep. Skye had fallen asleep on Chase's shoulder, as well as Everest sleeping on Marshall's shoulder. Rubble, Rocky, Zuma, and even Ryder had fallen asleep. The wolves that were there also fell asleep. The only ones still awake were Dodger, Ash, Chase, and Marshall. Chase and Marshall had also told the story of how the Paw Patrol was originally formed.

"Wow, I still can't believe both of you had to deal with all of that," Dodger said. "Was it hard?"

"At first it was," Chase replied. "But after the first two months, it got easier."

"Oh, okay," Dodger said.

"Well, I feel terrible about what we did to our parents," Ash commented.

"Yeah, no kidding," Dodger said. "We are going to make it right somehow. We just have to. Not just to our parents, but also the Paw Patrol."

"Glad to hear it," said Chase. "I'm also glad to finally meet you."

"Me too," Dodger replied. After that, all four of them laid down and fell asleep.
