Hamesha Wala Pyaar – Chapter 74
Shehnaaz approached him hesitantly, and stood beside him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
He leaned into her touch, stubbing off his smoke.
“Wasssup love?" Sidharth drawled pulling her close
"U look off?” he said gauging her slouched demeanor from the time they were back.
“Main yeh sab jo wedding planning chal rahi hai uske baare mein soch rahi thi, yaar papaji ne toh badi sari planning kar rakhi hai” Shehnaaz stared at the rhythmic motion of the sea waves ahead.
“I know it can be crazy right?” he smirked, very nonchalantly.
He was kind of expecting half of this from his mother, but he now had his Punjabi in laws to the mix and that was like adding fuel to the fire.
Sidharth wasn’t a big fan of huge celebrations, he abhorred being the centre of everyones attraction, but when it came to her happiness, he would happily oblige anyone and anything. Period.
“Lekin tujhe thoda over nahi lag raha yeh sab?” uncertainty laced in her tone as she continued
“I mean, yeh sab jo papaji keh rahe the, wedding planner ko bulana hai, aur badi party karni hai, itna kharcha kyu karwana? Jaise ek yehi shaadi reh gayi hai duniya mein” she casted a weary look at him, asking for his view silently but didn’t wait for him to answer, since he had already lit another one.
He just stared back at her, confused.
“tch, tch, what do you want? it just not making sense baby” he shook his head, puffing out a thick cloud of smoke.
His creased forehead made her withdraw.
The dark, silent night was creating the perfect ambience for a deep discussion like this.
Their impending wedding.
But he could sense something was eating away at her.
He turned to her and cupped her face gently “Talk to me baby, tell me whatever it is, clearly” his tone was gentle
“Sidharth, mujhe lagta hai yeh sab sho sha is a waste of money” she started off, her voice was edgy.
“pata nahi, mujhe khushi kam aur guilt zyada feel ho raha hai” she looked at him as the words left her mouth
“Kis baat ka guilt ho raha hai tujhe?” he asked again
“Bebu, tu aur main aur hamare families, zyada matter karte hai na? toh hamari shaadi mein bass yehi log honge toh bhi utni hi Khushi hogi, hai na? Shehnaaz spoke
“toh itne saare functions karke, itna paisa lagake puri duniya ko bulane ki kya zarurat hai?” she muttered, looking into his eyes.
“Are you seriously thinking about money baby?” he shot back, irked. His eyes widened with shock as he spoke.
Exactly this was the reaction she feared and she was apprehensive about speaking her mind out.
She shrugged his warm hands off her face in exasperation and paced two three steps away, absent mindedly playing with the corner of her dupatta.
Should she just tell him what she felt? What if he doesn’t approve of her silly idea? Her head was buzzing with thoughts.
“Shehnaaz mera dimaag mat sada theek hai? na toh tu sahi se kuch bol rahi hai. Bass khade rehke put off looks de rahi hai” he snapped at her.
Surprisingly his irritation made her angry too.
Why wouldnt he understand? She fretted
“Main chahti hu ki yeh sab expenses cut back karke hum kisi orphanage mein paise donate kar de. Nahi deni mujhe badi party kisiko, nahi karni mujhe dhoom dhaam se shaadi, mere liye tu important hai” she spoke earnestly
“tere sath ek simple registered shaadi bhi utni hi special hogi. Duniya mein bohot aise log hai, bacche hai, aurtein hai, budhe hai, jinko inn paison ki zyada zarurat hai” she blurted out on a fit of anger, flapping her hands wildly and gasping for air at the end.
She looked at him, but half expected him to grin back at her.
Pride swelled into him as her heard her speak.
He had heard of brides becoming bridezillas planning their weddings and going nuts overlooking the minutest detailing going from the tip of their toe nail to the top of their heads.
It nullified the point of the marriage and reduced it to look like a mere beautiful spectacle for the onlookers, for the fake world of social media.
And here was his cute button, who was still thinking about the well being of others, rather than splurging on herself on her special day.
He remembered her dream of touching people’s lives, and a warmth spread through him as he tried to understand her.
He took a few moments to himself, admiring her beautiful thoughts as a look of confusion covered her face.
He walked up to her slowly and put his arm around her shoulder, as he tagged her along for a stroll in the terrace.
“U know what love? I think this is a fantastic thought” he revered ecstatically and bent down to kiss her forehead.
“I totally agree with you. And trust me, main khud yehi soch raha tha thodi der pehle, that all this circus is not required. But this idea of saving up on funds is pointless” He took her hand, kissing it and halted midway
“i mean, We have enough to pull off both the wedding and the donation then why to…“ he spoke but her fingers went to his mouth stopping him midway
“usse koi farak nahi padta. Mujhe fir bhi iss baat se ghutan hogi, emotionally, aur mujhe pata hai tujhe bhi uss bheed mein ghutan hogi, physically. Toh jiss cheez se ghutan honi hogi, usko kyu karna?”she continued
“Aur ek baat bolu?” she looked at him piquing his interest
“Main chahti hu ki hamari Shaadi punjab mein nahi, Ashok Villa mein ho, that way baba bhi hamari khushi mein shaamil honge, hamare sath honge” she put her mind forward without realizing how innocently she had swept him away yet again.
“I love you so much my jaan, and more than you, I love your beautiful soul, the purity of your thoughts, your selflessness…fuckkk I love you to the point of irritation baby” he growled and pulled her to him, kissing her hard.
She was angry a while ago, but his words, his support, and ultimately his lips, melted her resolve.
She couldn’t help but give into him, the feel of his arms around her, the feel of his crusty lips over her soft ones.
They had sealed the deal with this kiss.
Now all they had to do was, announce their decision to their parents, and knowing there wont be much resistance from both parties they were already at ease and looking forward to the happy days ahead.
