What? How could you?

Start from the beginning

The other pups and Jake back away to give the Dalmatian space. Things could only go down from here.

"W-what?" Marshall finally says.

Chase knew he couldn't sit and pretend like he wasn't paying attention. He steps up next to the Husky, ready to handle any words or actions that results from this.

"Don't just leave him hanging" Skye says.

"Skye please just...don't" Everest says, clearly stressed from this day.

Skye goes quiet and allows the two to speak.

"Marshall, buddy I-uh- we um-" Chase stutters.

"Chase... just... just tell me that what she's saying isn't true" Marshall says walking closer to the Shepherd.

The room grows even more intense. Nobody could move, yet everyone wishes they weren't in the current situation.

"Marshall, it's not Chase's fault it was m-"

Marshall's eyes widen and his jaws drop.

"Wait, so it's true?!" The Dalmatian asks in horror.

The two pups slowly nod with their heads to the ground.

Almost instantly, the room witnesses something the pups nor Jake had ever seen before. Marshall looks up to the pups with a deep glare of pure anger, accompanied by a growl. The pups were generally scared. Chase, however, didn't know how to feel. Clearly Marshall was angry but what would he actually do?

"Chase, you're d-dating Everest?" Marshall asks, as if by hope eventually they'd say no.

Chase nods again.

Marshall walks right up to the Shepherd and gets close to his face.

"Chase? WHAT THE HECK?!" Marshall yells, and to the surprise of everyone he takes his paw and slaps the Shepherd.

Chase rubs his soar cheek and keeps his head down in slight embarrassment. He knows he moved into a territory that wasn't safe to tread in but that didn't occur to him. He saw it as revenge.

"Marshall, let me explain, I-"

Marshall snaps.

"No! You knew as well as everyone else that I like Everest for like forever and you went and decided to date her?! What is wrong with you?! Skye wasn't good enough for you?!" Marshall says angrily.

Chase knew it would've been way too out of character for him to keep his head down. He speaks up with confidence.

"Marshall you know I had no original intentions for this to happen. It just happened. I know you liked her but in the moment, it just felt right" Chase says. "Plus, it's not like you were gonna tell her anytime soon"

The other pups gasp at the Shepherd's words. They weren't even sure if they were listening to the same Shepherd they made run away.

Marshall was the most appalled by the Shepherd's words. He thought that Chase would be the one to have at least a bit of confidence in the Dalmatian. That thought died right in his mind.

Marshall looks the Shepherd right in the eyes with tears brimming.

"Marshall, you know I didn't mean-"

"Chase, I don't know what happened to you but... you're dead to me!" Marshall shouts as he bursts into tears and dashes out of the house into the snowy mountain of sadness.

"Marshal, wait!!" Skye calls out to the Dalmatian as she runs after him.

The other boys give Chase a look of disappointment as they shake their heads.

"That was pretty low Chase, especially for you" Rocky says.

"Yeah, Chase you'we like his bwother. That has to huwt fow him. You'we wong fow this" Zuma adds.

"You are not the same pup we knew from before" Rubble says with a frown as they head out to catch up with Skye.

The only people that were left in the house was Chase, Everest and Jake. Jake took this opportunity to give the two pups space. He went to his room for the time being.

"E-Everest, I know I want to be with you but why does it feel so wrong?" Chase says with his voice breaking up, clearly hurt by Marshall's last words.

The crack in his voice broke Everest's heart but still she tried to ignore it.

"It may be because they had to find out about us. You might feel guilty about it, but you did nothing wrong Chase. I was never his, but I'm yours" Everest says with a smile nuzzling Chase.

Chase feels better from the Husky's words but it was gonna take a bit for him to feel calm again. He has yet to catch a break this week. He pauses his thoughts and looks at the Husky with a frown.

"What?"'Everest asks.

"Everest, you're clearly hurt. I don't know much about medical things but that's not normal. What can you do about it?" The Shepherd asks.

Everest examines herself and shrugs her shoulders.

"It doesn't hurt that bad so I'll ask Jake to do something about it tomorrow" the Husky says.

Jake comes around and has an uneasy look on his face.

"Jake, what's wrong?" Everest asks her owner with concern on her face.

"Well, the weather looks terrible. It's supposed to snow and hail all night. So the pups definitely can't drive back in these conditions" the man says.

Chase and Everest wince at the motive of those words.

"Are you saying...they have to spend the night here?"  Chase asks in dread.

Jake nods.
