Elijah's POV
I walk into the kitchen to see if Hayley and Klaus are in there. The wolves had already turned back to human form so they should be here. I look out the window and see if I can spot one of them but to no avail. Hayley's parents are stood talking together, Andrew saying something to make Victoria laugh. I sigh and sit down on one of the chairs. Hayley should be back by now. It's nine o'clock; the moon has gone, so where the hell is she. I sit, thinking of all the reasons why she isn't here and why she hasn't told me where she is as the door opens.
"Hello? Hayley?" I turn around and see Cami walk in. "Oh, sorry Elijah. I'm looking for Hayley or Klaus. Do you know where they are?"
I stand up and walk towards her. "No sorry. They haven't returned since last night."
She looks confused. "What happened last night?"
"It was a full moon, and Niklaus decided to turn with them." I look away thinking. "Do you want to help me find them?" I look back at her and she nods her head smiling.
We walk outside, seeing some of the pack. Cami was accepted by them, being one of Hayley's good friends. Jackson had told them how she had helped and meant no harm to Hayley or Hope, and she was a good person. Everyone loves her. I still can't understand why she would go for someone like my brother. We walk to the lake, scanning the area for one or both of them, but nothing. Cami leads us further into the woods. As we walked on, we saw Jackson carrying some wood, but he too had not seen them. We weren't worried about them; we are in the afterlife for God's sake, but Hayley should be back by now.
Ten minutes have passed and we are getting further and further away from the cabins. Cami keeps suggesting ideas, that they could have just called somewhere before coming back to get breakfast with me, or they went too far last night, and so it will take a while to get back. but all of these suggestions are stupid. Hayley has turned before, but I never knew till two days ago, when she found Niklaus. She was always back when I got home, so why is she not now? I swear if Niklaus has done something.
We carry on walking until I hear a faint sound. I stop and strain to hear where it is coming from. It sounds like whispers right now, but I get Cami to walk with me to the direction of the voice until it becomes louder. Loud enough for me to tell it's Niklaus's. "Well, it wasn't my fault, Little Wolf. You were the one who dared me to do it." We get closer still, and then we hear Hayley's voice. "I dared you to go in a little, not all the way."
We rounded a corner and saw Hayley and him standing across from each other, pulling on their clothes. "What is going on? Klaus? Hayley?" Cami asks, making our presence known. They turn around and eyes widen in shock.
"Hello, Cami. Elijah." Niklaus says, pulling his shirt over his head. "What are you two doing out here in the middle of the Bayou?"
"I was wondering where my girlfriend had gone. It's past nine now, and she hadn't returned." I state simply. I emphasised on girlfriend, trying to get it into his head why I was so confused they were like this. Hayley step forwards, pulling her own shirt over her head, following by her jacket.
"It's fine Elijah. We slept in late, because we had been running nearly all night, and with us still being Hybrids, we don't turn back when the moon goes."
I walk towards her and put my arm around her waist, moving her closer to me, away from him. Cami walks to him and kisses him, but he tries to move away a little. I look closer at his appearance, and then Hayley's. Klaus's face was covered in mud, and so was the rest of him, under his clothes. Hayley had mud on her too. Her hair was covered in it, and they both smelt strange. "Well, are you going to explain why you are covered in mud?" I ask blankly.
