The crowd around them counted down. “One… two… three… GO!” They said and both Lexa and Lincoln set their glass at their lips and started to drink. Lexa looked from Lincoln’s glass to hers and could see hers getting emptier faster and she was right because suddenly she could taste the foam of the beer and there wasn’t much liquid anymore while Lincoln had one more gulp to go. She raised her empty glass in the air and everyone shouted. Bellamy picked her up and raised her in the air while Lincoln shook his head in defeat. He didn’t care much that he lost, he was just worried about Lexa. He regretted making that deal because there was nothing he could do now. Lexa was just happy she didn’t have to go home yet. She was having fun and although she couldn’t get the situation with Clarke fully out of her head, it was better here than in her bed all alone. She knew she would crave for Clarke’s body next to hers and being able to hold her but she knew she wouldn’t get that anytime soon so spending the night partying with the guys sounded like the best plan. Murphy bowed in front of Lexa. “I respect my queen. You destroyed him.” He said with a smile and Lexa just embraced him with a smile. “How are you feeling?” Murphy asked when they pulled back. He was the only one of all the boys that knew in detail what was going on with Clarke and her. “Light headed.” Lexa said with a smile and Murphy chuckled. “Yeah because you’re drunk.” He said but Lexa shrugged and looked at him like she didn’t know what he was talking about. “I don’t know what you mean? Not me. Definitely not me.”
“Do you want to get some air outside? I’m going for a smoke. You can come with me if you want?” He suggested but Lexa shook her head immediately. “I don’t smoke. And don’t call it ‘going out for some air’ while you legit suffocate yourself.” She said with a raised finger and Murphy had to laugh. “Even when you’re drunk, you’re bossy when it comes to stuff like this.”
“What can I say Murphy? Just because I’m drunk, doesn’t mean that I lose the interest of living my life and a healthy one. Plus I don’t lose my brain capacity. Not all of it at least. I would never smoke.”
“Didn’t you smoke for Clarke?” He asked and Lexa had to think a few seconds before something actually came out of her open mouth. “Yeah but that’s something else. She’s something else.”
“You’re too good for her.” Murphy said while patting her shoulder to show her his support but Lexa shook her head. “No I’m not. Don’t say that. You’re her friend.”
“I know but in this situation I don’t see where you get the patience from.”
“And that my friend is why you are single and I am… I don’t know what I am actually. Probably single too but I’m closer to not being single than you.”
“Are you saying I don’t know how to treat girls right?” He asked with a raised eyebrow and his hand on his heart like he was slightly hurt. “No. You know what I think?” Lexa said and she motioned to Murphy to come a bit closer. He did so his ear was close to her mouth. “I think that you pretend to not care but deep down you do. It’s like you act like this because you’re scared to get abandoned by ‘fake people’. And only when  you know for sure that they won’t leave you, you’re able to drop that mask.  And I think once you meet a girl you really love, that whole bad boy not caring mask will fall off.” Lexa said a bit more quiet than she did before because he was standing so close now. Murphy didn’t know what to say on it. He had this strange feeling, like someone actually saw how he was and it was new to him. Lexa laughed when she saw Murphy’s face. “I’m sorry. Don’t mind me. I’m too drunk to even realise what nonsense I’m talking. I change into a therapist once you give me some alcohol.” She said and Murphy forced a smile on his face although he knew that what Lexa had said wasn’t nonsense. “So you don’t want some air? You don’t have to smoke, you know?” He asked again but Lexa shook her head. “I’m good here. I’ll see you later.” Lexa said and with that Murphy left and Lexa walked to the bar. “Surprise me.” She said to the bartender but he just looked at her like she had just spoken another language. “Let’s make it two waters.” A girl’s voice said from behind Lexa and she recognized it immediately. She turned around to see Costia standing there and Lexa had to blink a time to make sure she was really standing there or not. “What are you doing here? You have school tomorrow, you know?” Lexa said and Costia had to laugh while she sat down next to the brunette on a chair. “I can say the same thing about you.”
“I’m here with the boys I live with and a few others because the girls basically kicked us out for the night.” Lexa said while she looked behind her to see where they were. “With girls you mean Clarke?” Costia asked and Lexa’s heart ached when she had to fully let herself think back of the situation. “No, not really. They just wanted to do a movie night.”
“But you’re a girl too.”
“Well yeah you’re right then. It’s because of Clarke I’m not sitting with them at the moment.”
“I guess she didn’t listen to your explanation?”
“She did but she has her own statement on it. But for real, why are you here? We have a biology test tomorrow.”
“Why would that hold me back from coming here? My tutor wasn’t able to prepare with me for the test so I’m failing in anyways.” Costia said and Lexa started to feel guilty. “I’m sorry. I shouldn't have said those things. I just knew I had messed up and I was angry at myself so I all reacted it out on you. I shouldn’t have done that. I actually enjoy hanging out with you.”
“No it’s my fault, Lexa. That’s why I came. I saw on your instagram that you were here and I decided to come too so we could talk. I shouldn’t have expected anything more out of that kiss or I shouldn’t have pressured you into that afterwards. I’ve  always liked you and even though you don’t like me back in that way I do hope you like me as a friend and that we can still be that.” Costia explained and Lexa got off her chair to hug her shortly. “Of course we can be.”
“And I’m sorry for causing trouble between you and Clarke. I can see she means a lot to you.”
“She does. She’s special but again it’s not your fault. I shouldn’t have kissed you and that’s it.” Lexa said and Costia nodded. “Here, drink your water because I can just see in your eyes how much you drank.”
“It’s not that bad! Look at me having super serious conversations about everything. That reminds me that I still need to go talk to Bellamy and Lincoln about Octavia. I feel like I’m a therapist tonight.”
“Why don’t you fix your own problems first?” Costia asked with a smile and Lexa looked at her while she thought. “You do have a point there. But I don’t think Clarke would appreciate my drunk ass coming home now and trying to talk to her, trying to kiss her even. I got to admit like these drinks they awaken something inside, if you know what I mean? My desires just went-” Lexa said while she let her hand go fly in the air and it made Costia laugh. Meanwhile the bartender set two waters in front of them. “Where does my drink stay?” Lexa asked him. “Your friend asked for two waters.”
“Yeah she did but I’m not her.” Lexa said while setting the two waters right in front of Costia. “She drinks two waters and I drink the surprise.”
“If you don’t tell me what you want then I can’t give it to you.” He said and Lexa rolled her eyes. “Then give me something that looks like water but doesn’t taste like water.” Lexa said with annoyance and the bartender did what she asked. “So you’re not going to sober up yet?” Costia asked and Lexa shook her head while she sipped of her drink that he had just set in front of her. “The night is still young my friend.”
