Hermione was walking to the Library. She couldn't figure out the name of a rune she had to write about, and so she was going to find a book about it. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a figure emerge from the shadows. Draco Malfoy. She tried to keep walking and act like she didn't see him.

"Oi, Mudblood! Where you going? Looking for your boyfriend Potter?" He called after her. This made her stop.

"He's not my boyfriend, we're just friends." she replied curtly.

"Obviously since I just caught Potter eating the little bloodtraitor's face off. You know the one you call Ginny?" He said with a smirk.

The blood drained from Hermione's face. "Like I said, we're just friends. He's allowed to snog whoever he likes." she said hoping to sound convincingly.

"Right." Malfoy jeered, still smirking as he turned and walked away.

Hermione turned on her heel, no longer going to the library. She began to run as tears streamed down her face. She needed to be alone, and so she went to the only place she could think of; the Room of Requirement.

Hermione spent the rest of the day in the Room of Requirement reading, crying, writing, crying, and more crying. She had known this was coming. I'm just a rebound. I knew from the moment Ginny said that Harry told her he loved her, and would get him back it would happen. Why would he truly love me anyways? But still, I had hoped.

Finally she was forced to come out to return to her dorm room. She looked at her watch, 2 a.m. Oh no! It's after curfew! I'll be in big trouble if I get caught.

Thankfully, Hermione managed to return the the common room without being caught. She went through the portrait hole, just to find Harry sitting in a chair staring at the entrance.

"Finally, it's 2 in the morning! I've looked everywhere for you Hermione! I was really worried!" Harry said as he stood up.

"Oh, were you now?" Hermione replied in a strained voice.

"Yes, I was. I need to talk to you. Will you please come sit down with me?"

"Harry, I'm really quite tired. I'd like to go to bed now."

"Please, I really need to talk to you. I won't be able to sleep without telling you."

"Fine" Hermione said with a heavy sigh. She followed Harry over to the couch.

"I don't want to keep anything from you, so I wanted to tell you that..... Ginny kissed me. And she explained what happened with Dean, and she said she loved me."

Hermione paused before answering, "It's okay Harry. She told me last week that you loved her and that she would get you back. It's fine."

"Is that why you were distant all week?"

"Yes, I didn't want to get attached for when you left. Like I said, it's okay." and with that she got up to leave.

Harry jumped up and grabbed her hand as she turned, bringing her back and pulling her into a deep kiss. She was shocked at first, but kissed back. She melted into Harry, fanning the spark between them.

"I never told you how I responded." He said quietly.

  FlashBack

Harry was stunned by Ginny's kiss, but he felt nothing. He no longer felt the spark he had felt everytime they kissed. There were no butterflies. He quickly pulled away.

"I'm sorry, I just don't feel that way anymore. I've moved on." Harry said firmly.

"What? It's been a week! How could you have moved on? Who is she?"

"What? There's nobody. But you broke my heart, and that erased any love I had for you. I'm sorry, but I've moved on. Now, I need to go study." And Harry left Ginny standing there, mouth open, trying to understand what had just happened.

  End of FlashBack

Harry grinned at her stupidly, "See, I told you. I really like you, and you only. I've only got eyes for you Hermione."

  Hermione blushed deeply. "Come here."

She pulled him into a light, gentle kiss. She pressed into him, deepening it. Harry could smell her shampoo, Strawberry. Wanting more, he shifted her against the wall, to allow him to deepen the kiss further. They stayed glued at the lips for another 5 minutes before finally having to break to gulp down air. Harry went back for one more brief kiss before Hermione pulled away.

"Harry, as much as I would love to keep kissing you, we need to go to bed." Hermione said.

"I know, I just really enjoy kissing you." Harry replied cheekily.

"Yes, yes I know, me too. But seriously, goodnight." and with that Hermione went to her dormitory.

Harry watched her walk away. How am I so lucky? She's perfect. Brilliant, talented, beautiful, and a little jealous.

And that night, he slept like a baby.
