Layton stood calling Benji's phone for what was the tenth time, repeatedly. She knew that it didn't take a solid thirty minutes to go to the corner store, so that immediately had her alarmed. Her eyebrows knitted together, as she heard a loud knock on her door. The sound of the knock was similar to how Benji would, so a small smile spread across her face in thought of it being him out there. She knew he'd left his key.
With a sigh of relief, she headed for the door with a fine choice of words for him as to why he'd taken a long time. When she got to the door, she opened the door quickly not to find Benji, but to only find Erin. Her once white tshirt was covered in bright crimson blood, along with smeared makeup from her crying. The sight before her caused her to feel frightened as she stood in front of a very distraught Erin, who had yet to tell her what exactly was going on with her.
"Layton you have to come now!" Erin spoke loudly to her ex-bestfriend who stood in front of her. At the sound of those words, fear and worry overcame her.
"Wh-what the hell are you talking about Erin? Why are you covered in blood, are you okay?" The blood covered her tshirt, a portion of her jeans, along with her hands being stained. It was clear that either Erin was hurt or she'd been helping someone who was. It hadn't dawned on her about it possibly being BG.
"Layton, it's BG. He's been shot." Erin answered as quickly as she could, which caused Layton to freeze up in her spot. As her mind replayed those words, it caused her to go into immediate panic mode and her emotions went into overdrive. She tried her best not to cry from what she'd heard, but that seemed to be the hardest thing for her to not do after this news.
"Is-is he okay?" Layton managed to ask, with fright evident in her tone. She asked the question, but that answer was what she was afraid of the very most.
"I don't know, I don't know. A car drove by and just shot him, then pulled off. I-I tried to help him Lay, I did, but it was soo much blood. I tried to help him." Erin rambled on as her tears fell from her eyes. That alone had Layton losing all of strength to keep from falling apart, before she knew all of the full facts.
Layton didn't say another word as she tried her best to keep it together. Quickly, she headed to her closet and grabbed Benji's 4hunnid hoodie she'd stolen, as well as slipped into her red crocs. She'd handed her frightened friend a hoodie as well, before the two of them rushed out of her house in route to the hospital that Benji was taken too. Erin had drove them there, leaving Layton to sit nervously as a passenger, with so many prayers and thoughts going on her mind.
Within the next fifteen minutes, they had made it to the hospital. By the time they found the appropriate area, the waiting room was already full of people he cared about or that cared about Benji. Layton began to instantly feel bad, since she seemed to be close to the last one to arrive. It only added to the guilt from her being the one to send him out to the store and to have this happen, it was eating her alive inside.
