Age 15

Today was the day I was going to tell everyone. They needed to know. We needed to prepare. Yes, all of us, excluding Matt, knew how to defend themselves, but it was time for us to do the real thing. Firstly, I had to tell Tyler what he was..

"Tyler? Can you please come up here?" I call from the stairs. My hands were clammy. Tyler's head popped up from the sofa, where he and Jeremy were playing video games. He gives me a questioning look, wondering why I had called him by his full name. I normally called him 'Ty', but this was serious. I gave a weak smile, and he followed me upstairs.

"What's up Maze? You look nervous," he says as he plops down onto the bean bag. I silently light the sage, and he sat up straight. "And you're burning the sage."

"Tyler, there's something I haven't told you yet," I begin.

"Maze, I love you too but I only see you as my friend-"

"Woah there buckaroo! I'm going to cut you short there. I only love you as a friend. Tyler, there's something you should know about your family."

"Oh, ok. Go on."

"Do you know why you become very irritable around the full moon?" He shook his head. "Well, yer a werewolf!" I say, in the worst Hagrid impression. Tyler stares at me before cracking up.

"Haha, I think I would know if I was a werewolf."

"I know it's kind of hard to believe, so I brought something. Now listen, before I tell you the history, I want you to know that you are not actually a werewolf, but you carry the genes. In 500 A.D., there was a powerful witch, Indau. Indau's only goal was to gain more power. Fearing for their safety, four of the tribe's strongest elders, each, imbued a part of their magic into a mighty ax before having Inadu's own mother kill her with the weapon. In her last moments, she cast a final spell, empowered by her own death, and created the werewolf curse and bound all those present to the full moon. This curse forced them to change into the very beasts that were used to hunt her down. This ultimately began the seven original bloodlines of werewolves." I pause for a moment, seeing Tyler frozen in shock. I mean, I kind of did just dump this all on him.

"And I'm one of their descendants?" He asks shakily. I nod softly and hold his hands.

"Things will be changing. I am sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

"No-uh, thank you for telling me."

"You're welcome Ty. Now, do you want to know how the curse is activated?"

"What? But you just said I was a werewolf?"

"The werewolf runs in the blood of the descendants. However, that does not mean necessarily that they become a werewolf. In order to become a werewolf, you have to kill a human." Tyler jumps up with fear across his face.

"I-I can't kill a human!" He cries in his hands, causing me to lift his head up. I begin to do the breathing exercise, which he soon followed. After he calmed down, I lead him to sit down again.

"And you don't have to. I just wanted you to know how it is triggered. If you ever need help with this, I am always here for you. Always..."

"And forever," he replied, smiling at me. I smile back, feeling the relief for a split second before I remembered I had to talk to the others.

"Now, werewolves are kind of rare. They were hunted down by vampires. A werewolf's bite is venomous to vampires. But only when they are transitioned. There are no known cures for the venom yet."

"So, do I not tell the others?"

"It is up to you, however I would be very careful." Tyler nods and hugs me.

"Thank you." I nodded and blow out the fire. We both walked downstairs, where Tyler joined Jeremy. I knocked on Vicki's door and entered.

"Hey! What's up?" I smile at her before motioning her to sit.

"How confident are you with your training?"

"Uh, pretty confident. Why do you ask?"

"Well, I think it's time for us to put our training to work." Vicki begins to smile in excitement.

"You mean-"

"Yup, we're going hunting." Vicki squeals, jumping up and down.

"Where are we going? How long are we going to be gone? Does everyone else know? What should I tell Matt?" I cut her off of her rambling. I loved the girl, but she did ask way too many questions for me to follow.

"We're going to rescue a vampire. He is currently being held hostage at Whitmore College. I would say maybe three days? Tell Matt that you are looking at colleges for when you graduate. And Caroline will be joining us."

"Oh! I am so excited! Wait, are we going to be killing humans? Wow, that was a weird question."

"We do not need to kill anyone except Doctor Wes Maxfield. I will inform you the rest of the information. Caroline should be here soon, so pack up what you need." Vicki squeals again before hugging me. Gosh, everyone here was such a hugger. I awkwardly hug her back before leaving the room to grab my bags. What else was I supposed to do? Oh yeah! "Tyler! Jeremy!" Both the boys turn around. I swear, they were more like siblings than Elena and Jeremy are.

"What's up?" Jeremy asks. I pat his head and he pouts like a little puppy.

"Vicki, Caroline and I are leaving for three days. Tyler, make sure Matt does not bring Elena in the house. Jeremy, keep your sister away from the house. Please stay safe. Don't let anyone in-"

"Yes Maze, we get it. Don't let anyone in without your permission. Always have vervain. Go, have fun!" I smile and kiss the top of their heads. I hear someone honking from outside.

"Get in bitches!" Caroline yells, causing me and Vicki to laugh. After a couple of hours driving, which contained us singing obnoxiously and chatting, we finally arrive at the hotel. We check in and decided to get one huge room for all of us. I light the sage as the girls set their things down.

"Alright, so who are we saving?" Caroline asks.

"His name is Lorenzo St. John. He was captured during WWII by an organization called Augustine. Augustine members were and still are aware of the supernatural and were especially interested in vampires and the magic and science behind their enhanced senses and abilities. They capture vampires and test on them like lab rats." I didn't realize I was getting angrier with each words until the girls held onto my hands. I shut my eyes and count to three before taking a deep breath.

"What are they doing to him?" Caroline asks, afraid of the answers.

"Well, they keep him vervained 24/7 so he can't escape. All I am willing to tell you is that Lorenzo does not deserve to be tortured. Lorenzo, if he decides to stay with us, should be the one to tell you what happened to him." The girls nodded.

"So, if he's vervained, how are we going to get him?"

"I brought a couple blood bags. I called one of the vampires who owed me. Vicki, I need you to go to the building and ask for Doctor Wes Maxfield. I will put a glamour on you so you look like you've been in a fight. Tell him you know Grayson Gilbert and are friends with Elena Gilbert. Tell him that you captured a vampire. I'll be waiting in the car. Caroline will call you and tell you to hurry up, that she had to snap his neck to keep him from waking up. He probably will want to take his car and follow us to the hotel. Here, Caroline will be 'torturing' the vampire. He needs to be in the room for this to work."

"Ok, so I go to Maxfield, tell him that I'm friends with Grayson's daughter, and that I captured a vampire. I lure him to the hotel. Got it." Vicki repeats and nods at the plan.

"And I call, saying that the vampire woke up and I had to snap his neck."

"Yup!"

"So, when are we getting Enzo?"

"After Maxfield tells us where and how to get him." I say. "I know a spell that can compel people just like vampires. He ingests vervain, so Rico can't compel him."

"Alright. Sounds good."
