The Battle Of Zaofu
...
I can't sleep. I've been tossing and turning all night because the only thing I can think about is Wei and our conversation we had today. He said he'll come back to me, but what does that mean? Like, does he mean he'll come back to our relationship, or did he mean as a friend? I don't know, I just thought I was strong enough to be his friend, but seeing him today made me realize that I never got over him. Maybe that's why I was never able to form a real bond with any of the guys who took interest in me at school. None of them compared to Wei.
"Li Na!" A voice whispers.
I jump out of my skin at the sudden presence of Jinora.
"What the heck, Jinora?! You scared me!" I whisper yell. "I know you're an airbender, but please make yourself known."
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. We need you, Let's go."
I immediately get up and slide my feet into my slippers. I then put my curly hair in a messy bun letting my bangs hang, and I grab my green sweatshirt that sits near the window, and I dash out the door. When Jinora says we need to go, especially with no explanation, that means there's an emergency, and something in the pit of my stomach is telling me that something's gone wrong.
I quickly follow Jinora outside, and Korra and Opal come into view. Something is wrong with Opal, she looks devastated. I immediately run over to her and embrace her in a hug. I haven't seen her all day, and I was hoping earlier that we could catch up, but she was so busy with her family and going to meetings with Kuvira to talk about the fate of Zaofu, so I didn't want to interrupt.
"I'm so glad you're here," she tells me.
"I was hoping to speak to you earlier, but I didn't want to interrupt. What's going on?" I ask.
"Attention citizens of Zaofu."
I immediately look up as I hear Kuvira's voice echo through a loud speaker over Zaofu.
"Your leader, Su Beifong, attempted to attack me tonight while I slept, ignoring the terms of our truce. Luckily I now have her and her assault team in custody."
We all gasp. We should've known this would happen! Now she's going to get all the citizens to turn against Suyin and her family!
"Rest assured that I will not take revenge on the peaceful citizens of Zaofu, unless your remaining representatives meet me outside the city at dawn to offer the full and unconditional surrender of your city. That is all."
"Korra, you can't let Kuvira get away with this! We have to go break out Mom and my brothers!" Opal shouts angrily, and I 100% agree with her. Kuvira needs to be stopped!
"You swore an oath of non-aggression when you became an airbender," Jinora argues. "You can't just attack Kuvira!"
"I don't care about the oath! I have to save my family!"
"Well I'm not an airbender, I'm an earthbender, so I didn't take an oath," I say while getting annoyed. "Kuvira has gone way too far this time, and I have no problem breaking Su and the twins out and getting back at her!"
"No you two, Jinora is right. Your mom attacked the camp. Kuvira was just defending herself," Korra replies to both Opal and I. "And you need to relax. I know you're an earthbender, but your brothers would kill me if you got hurt. You're not facing Kuvira alone."
I cross my arms in front of my chest and pout. It just doesn't make sense to me. Why does Kuvira get to twist the rules and play dirty, but we can't? She's not defending herself, she's holding the Beifong's hostage!
