(Yea I'm kinda incorporating the game Until Dawn simply because I love it so much and I think their version of the wendigo is cool so yes you should play that even though it's old and uh yea)

I woke up alone in the room, immediately running downstairs and finding Dabi in the kitchen, cooking.

"Don't break a leg running to find me."

"Sorry I just-...I didn't expect you to leave."

"Well I wanted you to sleep in so I figured I'd make lunch."

"Don't let me ruin my sleep schedule just because I got scared last night.", I groaned and laid my head on the counter.

"It's fine.", he shoved a bowl of rice over to me. "Now eat, I've gotta go pick up your shit today."

"Huh?"

"You want your books and stuff, right?"

"Well yeah...."

"Great. You'll watch the house while I'm gone."

"By myself?"

"I'm leaving Sora with you.", he shrugged, tapping his fingers on the counter.

"But then you'll be alone!"

"So? Your neighborhood is pretty safe."

"What if it's not then?"

"I'll be okay. Just eat."

Being alone again wasn't my favorite but with Sora by my side it wasn't too bad. I just laid on the couch and stared at the ceiling, humming Lonely Hearts Club by Marina and The Diamonds to myself. It'd been stuck in my head for a while now.

Halfway through the song, Sora jumped on top of me, knocking the air out of me as she laid down with her head on my chest.

"You're heavy, you know that?"

Sora was a German Shepard, which weren't very common in japan. She was also well trained, even if I wasn't sure by who.

"Just gonna lay there?"

She sighed in confirmation before she lifted up her head and sniffed around.

"What?"

She turned her attention to a door I hadn't been through, nose twitching slightly as she peered closer.

"Sora there's nothing there.", I gently pet her and sighed deeply. He'd showed me every room in the house apart from that one, only telling me that it was a basement. I just assumed it had a bunch of junk inside. "S' just a door."

She hopped off of me and took a guarding stance in front of the couch, ears peeking up as she stared at the door.

"Sora.", I sat up and glanced at the door, where absolutely nothing was standing that I could see. I pet her again, but she didn't move.

She didn't seem as if she was going to bark, just guarding me.

"Damnit.", I stood up and walked over to the door, reaching for the doorknob. The moment before my skin touched it, she began barking viciously at the door, making me flinch and look back at her. "Sora! Hush!"

She whimpered and carefully stepped over to me, sniffing under the bottom edge of the door and continuing to whine.

"I said quiet."

She tried to nudge me away, making me crouch down and let go of the doorknob.

"I won't open it, alright? I trust you."

I stood back up and pressed my ear to the door, keeping my hand on the handle just in case I had to hold it shut.

Closing my eyes and listening closely, I could hear some kind of shuffling around near the door.

Could just be a mouse or something but I'm not gonna chance it. I've played enough horror games to know when to leave shit alone.

Before I walked away, I heard a voice come from inside. It sounded like Dabi's.

"Hey, I'm kinda stuck. Can you open this?"

"Dabi?"

Sora started to growl but I screamed and covered my mouth when the front door opened, Dabi walking in. It made him flinch before laughing.

"Did I scare you?"

"Yea Uh....", I looked down at the doorknob before letting go and walking over to him. Sora laid down in front of the door and continued to sniff at it.

Dabi was speckled with snow, which had started up just a few hours prior. It stuck out like a sore thumb in his pitch black hair.

"What? Did I miss something?"

"We're you in the basement just now?"

He bit the inside of his cheek gently and shrugged, shaking his head.

"Nah. Why?"

"But I-...I heard you."

"You heard me? What do you mean? I haven't been down there in ages, that's where my sister hung herself."

"Jesus Christ don't just say that!"

He shrugged again.

"I buried her, don't worry. She's not still down there. Anyway, I don't go down there for that reasons."

"Why did she do it?"

"She said something bad was gonna happen. A few minutes before everyone else here died, she took her own life so she wouldn't have to die the way everyone else did."

"Ouch..."

"Yea. Wish she'd have told me weird bitches would be trying to eat me. Besides the point though, what makes you think I was down there?"

I looked back at the door.

"I don't know, I thought I heard you say something. Guess I was wrong."

"I can go down and check just in case."

"I don't know.", I shook my head. "It was probably just my imagination."

"There's a radio down there that I haven't turned off so maybe it was that."

"Yea."

"So now that that's settled.", he walked over to the basement door and gently pushed Sora away with his foot, discreetly locking the door before heading back over to me. I wouldn't have noticed him lock it unless I wasn't looking at the doorknob but he was a cautious guy in general so I didn't question it. If he wasn't worried, why should I be? "Come snoop through your shit and toss out what you don't want."
