Sophie jolted awake and started to breath heavily and she looked around. She did a double take when she saw that she was in a hospital bed with all of her friends watching her.

First it was confusion, then it was the flashbacks of what had happened at the Royal ball.

The Neverseen.

Mr. Forkle getting shot.

Nick's betrayal.

Sophie then groaned from the flashbacks and the headache she had. She then tried to jump out of the bed but Biana held her down.

"Relax, Sophie," Biana soothed.

"No! I have to go—and fix it—"

"Sophie, you can't do anything about it. Just relax for a second," Marella instructed.

Sophie then gulped as millions of questions filled her mind. "Is everyone okay?!" She first asked.

Keefe then frowned. "We're all safe," he said, gesturing to the friends. "But...some are recovering. Wylie has several injuries from when the Neverseen beat him up and lots of Foxfire kids got seriously injured."

"There were several that died too," Fitz added. "It's all over the news."

"Really?! Wait—how long ago was this?" Sophie asked.

"You've been here over night. Right now it's like midday," Dex said, glancing at his watch.

"Was it because of another panic attack?" Sophie asked.

Everyone then nodded. Sophie then sighed in frustration. "Where are my parents?!"

"They came but they had to run a few errands for a little while so they asked us to stay here for you when you wake up," Linh explained.

Sophie then noticed that Linh's eyes looked exhausted as she sniffled and Tam wrapped an arm around her.

Sophie then nodded. "WAIT—WHAT ABOUT MR. FORKLE?!"

Everyone then shared a look. "Well um...he's not doing so well. They're trying to stop the infection and fix the blood loss from the bullet but...the doctors said things aren't looking too good for him," Biana said quietly.

"Wait—so what's gonna happen?!" Sophie asked, feeling tears start to rise.

"He might not make it by the end of the day," Linh mumbled.

Sophie then couldn't stop the tears from pooling out. She started to sob and felt embarrassed as her friends watched. "S-Sorry guys...I'm being a big baby right now," Sophie sniffled.

Marella then wrapped an arm around Sophie. "It's okay girl. We understand, you have the right to feel this way."

Sophie then frowned and looked away. "It's not just sadness...it's guilt. It's my fault Mr. Forkle got shot."

"No it's not," everyone said at the same time.

"Yes it is. The Neverseen are after all of us because of m-me. It's my fault everyone keeps getting hurt," Sophie said.

"But we chose to help. So did Mr. Forkle," Keefe pointed out.

"You shouldn't be helping me," Sophie mumbled, looking away.

"Sophie stop that. We're your friends and we want to help you. You can't do this all alone. You're a leader but sometimes even the leaders need their crew," Biana said.

"But I keep making everything worse! It's my fault that people are getting hurt for no reason! It's my fault that we are failing our missions. MY OWN BOYFRIEND betrayed us! I'd say I'm making things worse," Sophie explained.
