Zero...
The minute when the silver haired boy flee from her sight, Yuka quickly chased after him into the woods. For a fact she knew he's far gone beyond her reach, but she still kept on moving forward, hoping to at least find him.
Zero...! You're not...
She ran with her hand grabbing onto her neck, covered in cold, sticky blood. Her vision started to blur as her head became fuzzy. The heaviness blocked her sight, and Yuka began to feel nauseated the more she uses her muscles to reach for Zero.
You can't be...
Falling on her face, Yuka caught a tree and felt the tips of its roots seeping from the ground. Gasping and panting, her shrunken eyes are overwhelmed by tears falling to her cheeks, hands trembling above her as her thoughts dangerously clouds her mind.
There's no way she can believe that Zero is a vampire. When she already witnessed one, she can never expect another type of vampire like himself. Or perhaps she's wrong.
She realized this is what it feels to be bitten by one. The touch of his fangs pierced through her veins and sucked her life for a brief moment. It's starting to make sense to her now - that she's the reason why Zero is been awfully strange to her. He's been hungry for her blood.
"Why am I so stupid?" she sobbed to herself. She doesn't know what to believe now - on what's good or bad to her. Was it right for what he did? Was it wrong for her to keep invading his space?
She has no idea what to think.
"Yuka!" She didn't budge from her position, but twitched her arm when a voice loudly called out her name. Kaien's body came rushing to her side with a worried expression written on his face. And that was when Yuka began to pass out as blackness consumes her.
*~*~*
What the hell.
I was infuriated with myself. How could I be so naive? Touching her like that, and to think I got everything in control to tame this beast. I thought I've learned my lesson already, but... the taste of her blood says otherwise.
I couldn't contain this anger within me as I thrown a small vase from my dresser across my room, hearing it shatter to pieces and found my mirror in front of me. I gasped, looking at the image in front of me made me question who I am.
It's a sick vampire, chin covered in Yuka's blood, satisfied in drinking it, wanting more of it.
And before I knew, my fist shattered my reflection as it formed a web throughout my face. How annoying.
I touched my pounding forehead, thinking about the previous event when I suck my fangs deep in to the nape of Yuka's neck. Her blood is more than what I expected. It is far beyond than delicious, and that's what disgusted me the most.
"Yuka..." Licking the dry blood from my lips, I leaned over my sink in shame, reminiscing the moment when I sucked the life out of her.
You make me sick.
*~*~*
Eyes fluttering, Yuka woken up from her unconsciousness due to the amount of blood she lost. Searching her surroundings, she sees that she's on an unfamiliar couch covered in a blanket. And she sees that she's not at home either, but recognized the room she's in - a living room.
Sitting up slowly, her head throbbed painfully as small blackness invaded her vision. She felt so weak, she can barely move her two legs.
"Oh you're awake!" A voice enlightened the room. When she turned around, Yuka sees the Headmaster Cross entering from the kitchen, holding a tray full of delights in his hands. He grinned at her while walking to her side.
He placed the food tray on top of her lap. "It's really important for you to eat, Yuka. You have no idea how much Zero out did himself." When Kaien first mentioned his name, Yuka's blue eyes widen as she recalled the memory outside. Zero...?!
Then her hand shot up to her neck where the silver haired boy sunk his fangs to, but only felt an elastic bandage covering it - clean and dry. Yuka rose her eyebrows, questioningly. So it did happen.
"Yes, Yuka. To answer your question, Zero is indeed a vampire," he told her in solemn. "But don't worry, he's not the kind you saw before."
Yuka narrowed her eyes at him question flying until she figured out the kind of person Kaien is. "You know?" She asked.
"Everything," he answered. "You can think of it as class levels. Pure bloods are the top of the food chain and Level E's are at the bottom. And thankfully, Yuka, Zero is not a Level E."
"Then what is he?"
"A vampire hunter." It sounds so ironic. A vampire hunter is a vampire himself. This reminded Kaien months back when he explained this exact situation to Yuki, how it was her who used to sit in the infirmary with the exact same reason because of Zero.
"Yuka," he started. "It's not too late to go back the way you lived your life, normally I mean. Zero and I were afraid that things will get complicated with you living in the kind of world we're in. It's a dangerous place. It would be safer if you moved on without knowing any of this."
"What do you mean?" Yuka asked. "I can't just simply forget all of this."
"Not by yourself, no. But I can call in someone to erase your memories completely." By hearing this, it made Yuka in complete shock, trying to believe in that method if anyone has that kind of ability. "It's best for everyone if you weren't involve with any of this. We've already agreed if you're starting to know more about us, we're going to end it before things get worse."
"How do you know if things are going the way you expect it?"
Kaien's brown eyes stared at her blue ones deeply and glanced down before speaking again. "There was someone before you who was in the same situation." Then he shook his head. "Look, Yuka, we just want everything to be okay."
Looking down, Yuka didn't say anything immediately or question further about it. But instead she thought thoroughly about their decision to is twice her memory clean, knowing nothing about what occurred today or the past week.
Then that means she wouldn't remember Zero at all.
"Um, Headmaster?" He eyed her in surprise. "Is it fine if I see Zero?" She quivered which he rose his brow in concern.
"Now, why would you want to see I'm after what he's done to you?" Kaien asked. Yuka frowned and didn't say anything more. She doesn't know particularly why. She just felt the need to; to see if he's doing okay. But of course, she couldn't say that out loud.
Kaien sighed, "I believe that's not a good idea right now, Yuka. I mean, you've just woken up and Zero is probably not in the right mood to talk to anybody." Her eyes fell sadly in defeat. She was hoping to see him, but the Headmaster's right. "Just give it some time. Zero's been having a tough week."
Nodding, Yuka watched the ponytailed man stand from his seat as he made his way outside the room. "Oh!" She said, making him stop and look back. "If you do see him, can you please tell him..." She paused as her voice grew smaller but then she looked up again with confidence in her majestic eyes.
"Can you please tell Zero that I forgive him?" Kaien blinked several times before answering back at her. He smiled.
"Yes, I can."
