Shelagh hobbled up the steps of Nonnatus house as Peter waited for someone to answer the door. She couldn't bare to be taken home back to Patrick, she couldn't face him or any other man.
Sister julienne answered the door jumping out of her skin, her face going as pale as a sheet as she noticed Shelagh.
"Shelagh!? What on earth happened!?" Sister julienne moved to her side, wrapping her arm around her. Before Peter could open his mouth, Shelagh burst into another flood of tears.
"She was attacked. She refused to be taken home" Peter said quietly, erupting another flood of tears from her.
"I'll get her into bed for now" sister julienne told Peter making him nod.
Sister julienne lead Shelagh upstairs and sat her on her bed.
"I'll run you a bath" sister julienne told her before leaving the room. Shelagh sat on the bed blankly, what that man did to her was wrong and all she wanted to do was erase him from her body. She would have bruises and cuts. But there are things that wouldn't erase over time, the feeling of his hands on her and the scent of drunkenness.

Sister julienne came back and slowly led Shelagh to the bathroom. She slowly undressed her of what she still had on, being careful not to hurt her. She was covered in bruises from head to toe, it broke her heart to see it. The woman she had considered a daughter was hurt in many ways.

Sister julienne slowly and carefully helped her into her nightie, then tucked her into bed.
"Would you like some tea or hot chocolate?" Sister julienne asked kindly.
"I wish to be left alone please" Shelagh rolled over turning her back to her, holding the tears in.
"When should I telephone Patrick?" Sister julienne asked.
"Don't. I can't face him" Shelagh's voice broke as she held in the tears.
"Alright, I'm here if you need me Shelagh" sister julienne frowned, placing a kiss to the top of Shelagh's head before leaving the room, closing the door behind her with a soft click. Shelagh let the tears she had been holding in finally fall from her eyes.

How would the others react? Would it be easier to say she fell and hide the truth from everyone else? Would this leave a mark upon her soul and put an end to everything she has created?

Could she coceal this? Everyone has something that they wish to hide, to lock away from prying eyes.

Shelagh felt as though she was caught up in a gigantic lie, she would no longer have her innocence or virtue. She had it ripped from her but would others see it that way? Or would she forever be known as the whore of Nonnatus...
