"I'll get you that medicine." Gaius says to Gwen as she stood again. "Take your time. I'm in no rush." She smiles, sitting down next to Merlin and turning to look at him. "So, Merlin, how old are you?" Merlin looks back to her, confused, not sure how to answer. Eventually, he just shrugs, hoping that was suitable. "That's okay, Merlin." Gwen rubbed his cheek gently, gazing at him with the softest look in her eyes. Merlin wasn't sure why but he felt oddly safe. Warm. Loved.
"I am to believe he is about one or two. Somewhere along that line. Merlin here never had an official classification done. That's why he doesn't know his age, and why he is always worked to the brim. He was on his way to Camelot when he turned 17 and just missed being classified." Gaius explained to Guinevere while walking into the room, medicine in hand. Gwen had a sad look on her face, thinking over his words. "Poor baby..." She thumbed over his hair, feeling it a bit stiff. She figured he had some gel in it, which knowing how sensitive to textures littles can be, it was odd he had it.
"I actually got classified a bit late. There were alot of people getting classified around the same time. But, then it was easy for me to find myself a caregiver. It turned out great because I just so happened to work for her." Gwen thought over it a bit, heart warming right up at the thought of her. She was just so sweet and kind. Loving.
"Care?" Merlin tilts his head to the side a bit, Gwen looking back at him with a smile. "I guess the 'not knowing someone is a little' thing is mutual." She laughs, sitting down next to him. "You 'ittle?" Gwen just gives a kurt nod. "You have a mommy? Or a daddy?" Another nod, "Yeah, I have a Mommy. She's really nice." Guinevere looked from Merlin to Gaius, "And I'm guessing he doesn't have anyone." "No and there's only so much I can do being a baseline and all." Suddenly, Gwen brightens up with an idea and turns towards the boy with excitement. "Maybe you can come to visit my Mommy and I for a playdate!" Merlin looks back at her with a surprised yet curious expression. "It'll be so much fun!" Shifting his gaze to Gaius, he gives a look as if to ask him if going with her is okay. Giving a nod of his head and a soft smile, Merlin then turns back to Gwen with hesitance. "It's okay, Merlin. She's nice. Trust me." Gwen reassures, watching as he thinks for a moment before deciding he would go. Finally his dream of actually being little around a real caregiver was coming true. So he nods.
"Can you walk?" Gwen offers her hand to him. He has to think on it for a second, believing he shouldn't force Gwen to carry him and that he could hold myself up. Standing up on bare feet, wobbling a bit before regaining balance, he takes steps towards her. Falling would not be the best thing right now so he used her for some balance. "There we go. Let's get some shoes on, shall we?"
Within just ten minutes, they're out the door. Gwen makes small talk even if Merlin has trouble answering. He doesn't really reply much but just listens to her. Not that he's complaining. Her voice is very soft and smooth. He likes hearing it. Better than the yelling he gets from Arthur all day.
Guinevere holds Merlin's hand tightly, ensuring he does not get lost or wanders off. Her words. But of course Merlin thinks he's a very well behaved kid. Even with never really being little outside of the house. It kind of scared the poor boy. At least he had thought to bring his bunny blanket with him for comfort and familiarity.
People haven't even blinked an eye. It was important to note: that was Merlin's fear. He didn't want to go noticed. But most of Merlin's friends aren't there at the market as of right now. At least, he hadn't spotted any of them. Merlin looks to see they seem to be walking towards the castle. Which is odd to him. He thought Gwen had said something about her working for her caregiver whenever she was big. Perhaps hers works in the castle and Gwen works below her. That was the only idea Merlin could come up with anyway. He supposed he would just be patient and find out though.
