Hey guys. Sorry for the continuous wait, I know a lot of you are anxious. I will try to update this story once or twice a week but apologize in advance in case I can't.
Anyway, enjoy chapter 2!
____________________________________________________________________________________ I’ve been driving for 8 hours straight so far, with only a few stops for washrooms breaks and to get something to eat. It’s about 10 pm now and I’m quite tired. I don’t plan on getting a room in a hotel so I park off to the side, somewhere I can stay overnight and I just sleep in the car.
It was a restless with only getting about 4 hours of sleep. I’m a bit more than half way to the Ancients Temple so it shouldn’t take too long now to get there. I woke up at 6 in the morning and drove the rest of the way after getting some gas and food.
About 3 and a half hours later, I arrive at the entrance of the Ancients Temple. I park out front then head inside, I notice that both inside and outside the building, most of it has been reduced to rubble but yet it still, some what stands. Reminds me of the church that is also reduced to rubble in the slums of Sector 7.
I go inside and search the temple, looking high and low for anything or anyone. I doubt though that there is anyone in here, it’s been abandoned for a long time now. I go through a few rooms with paper on the floor and desks but nothing of really any use.
About a few minutes later, I walk into a big room that has a ring of water around a big circular cement podium in the middle. I slowly walk up to the giant flat plate, looking around while I do and notice that there’s a sun roof at the top that lets both the sun and moon shine in.
I look a little more and realize that I have seen this place before. I stand at the top now and something on the ground catches my eye. I look at it and notice that there is a spot on the ground. I kneel down to look at it and notice that its dried blood.
I get a sickening feeling and then I get a quick flash of imagery through my head and I clutch it with my hand. I close my eyes and notice the imagery is of Aerith kneeling here in the same spot that I am in with Sephiroth above her and his sword is faced down toward her. Then it is followed with Aerith being stabbed through the abdomen with his sword.
When I come to, I realize what happened; Sephiroth is the one that killed Aerith and it happened right here on this very spot. I look at the spot for a moment, taking it in then stand up, ignoring the sickening feeling in my stomach that is starting to grow.
“This is where Aerith was killed…” I say to myself. “That damn Sephiroth is going to pay for everything that he has done to Cloud and those around him.”
I start to get more determined to defeat him as I look around the room but as I go, something shimmers and catches my eye. I look sharply in front of me and look closer, seeing a white orb on the bottom of the pool.
I walk over and kneel down then lean over, reaching deep within the pool and grab the orb, pulling it up to the surface. The orb is about the size of my palm. I look closer at it, examining it and see that it is materia, white materia to be exact. Since I’ve been reading a bit about materia for the past while due to work, the only type of materia that was ever recorded and was white would be Holy materia, they say that only Ancients ever carried it since they were the only ones that could control and summon its great power.
This must have been Aerith’s before she died… Probably fell out of her pocket… wait she didn’t have pockets but they did say she put stuff in her hair.
I look at the materia and decide to pocket it since I do have Ancient blood in me and might become useful at some point. I finish in the building and then decide to move on to my second and last destination; The Northern Cave.
