"Morgan killed Aliénor? How is that possible?" Talon said, his eyes wide after I told him about the vision.

"I have no idea. I've never heard of a witch living this long. There are anti-aging potions but they can only slow down ageing a little, not extend your lifespan for centuries. Morgan must have found a really powerful potion or spell?" I guessed lamely, completely at loss for an answer.

"Why did Morgan kill Aliénor?" Talon said, voicing the million dollar question.

"I don't know. The vision wasn't clear, I could barely make out what was happening, let alone hear what her plans were." I said, sighing.

"Come on, we can debate Morgan's ulterior motives while we ride back," Talon said as the first few drops of rain started to fall.

The ride back was not as peaceful as the ride there.

Why had Morgan killed Aliénor? Did she want to do the same to me? Who was Morgan? If anything, I felt there were more questions now.

By the time we reached the Ravenswood estate, the rain was coming down hard.

We unsaddled the horses and fed them. I had been going over all the books I'd read on witchcraft in my head, both for my history degree and craft study, trying to recall if I'd ever seen a mention of a witch named Morgan. The only one that came to mind was Morgan le Fay, the enchantress in Arthurian legend. Surely not? I thought.

"Do you think there are any old books on witchcraft and witches here in the library?" I asked Talon, eager to try and make something of the only useful bit of information my spell had given us.

"Maybe." Talon said, considering. "It's a massive library and I haven't read all the books sweetheart, I have a life." he said smirking. I laughed at his jab. It was so nice to see him relatively normal after today. He had been on the edge, metaphorical and literal.

After we had gotten changed out of our wet clothes, we spent the rest of the afternoon going through bookshelves and bookshelves in the massive library, trying to find anything remotely related to witches in the Fourteenth century.

We didn't have much luck. There were countless first editions and priceless manuscripts that made my history brain drool but nothing that was relevant to Morgan or Aliénor or real witches in general. Which made sense, it wasn't likely we would find something about the history of witches in a Royal vampire family's library. The history and secrets of witches were closely guarded by kind.

I knew both Talon and I had thought of this but neither refused to give up our only lead. I think Talon was also avoiding talking about today and his episode.

After hours, I was just about ready to throw the towel in when I spied a book on the top shelf that looked promising. It was covered in dust like it hadn't been touched in years, maybe decades or longer.

Et Magicae Libro. Book of Magic, I translated. A little glimmer of hope rose in me.

It appeared to be a fifteenth century manuscript that was on alchemy, occult and other supernatural related topics.

But after slaving through dense chapters on the Philosopher's Stone and other Alchemical legends as well as the dangers of Chimeras and werewolves, I was convinced it wouldn't be of use after all. I closed the book, sighing.

Come on universe, throw me a bone. I thought, desperate.

As if on cue, the book flew off the reading desk I had been sitting at and fell to the floor, open on a particular page. I looked around but I was alone. Talon was on the other side of the library.
