While sitting at the table with my father I do my best to keep my eyes on him instead of on my unconscious mother. I doubt it'd be very helpful if I just killed him right now. From what I recall he can be a sneaky bastard, I just need to find out what he knows, who he may have told and then I'm going to kill him.

"Why are you here?" I ask him flatly as I keep my voice from expressing my rising anger as I feel my magic ready to release itself.

He raises an eyebrow as he stares at me suspiciously. "I know that I haven't been around much after everything with your mother, but when your mother called and told me about your.. friends, I didn't have much choice. You can't be around those things."

"It's not up to you who I spend my time with." I say blandly as I narrow my eyes at him in annoyance.

"I'm your father, it's my duty to make sure that you stay alive and healthy."

"No, I think it has more to do with continuing the precious founders blood type of bullshit. That and your obsession and large but obvious hate of vampires."

He stands up and slams his hands into the table in anger as he glares down at me. "They are monsters Caroline. They aren't your friends, they are cold blooded killers. Do you think they'd have a problem killing your mother? Or you? Or a defenseless child?"

"No, but just like a lion will eat a human.. vampires are predators Dad." I tell him calmly as I watch him cautiously. "But no reason is worth you knocking my mother out."

My father grits his teeth in frustration, then he takes a deep breathe and stands up straight as he looks down at me. His eyes become resolved and he lets out a sigh of disappointment as he walks towards me, causing me to stiffen. I know this father wouldn't hit, but he did torture his own daughter in the show.

"I just want to what's best for you Caroline. Your mother was so worried about you and I don't blame her, you have vampires for friends of all things." He says with disgust as he stands beside me and pats my head condescendingly. "Maybe I shouldn't have left you with your mother, it's not like she could properly take care of you or prepare you for what's here."

I gap at him for his gall to say such a thing about the only mother of mine to care about me at all. What a fucking bastard, I stand up quickly causing him to eye me warily as I glare at him.

Through gritted teeth I snap back at him, my fist in a tight ball, "My Mother is a great woman and just because you're an inadequate father doesn't make her any less of my mother. I suggest you leave before I kick you out myself."

"I am not an inadequate father." He snaps back as he gets in my face about it causing me to stiffen again and take a few steps back. "But I am your father and I know what's best for you. Just like I also knew it was possible for you would resist my advice.. so I made sure to have a backup plan in place. I'll just have to re-educate you.. show you that vampires are not our friends."

Before I can even twitch a finger to throw him across the room like I'd prefer I feel a pinprick on the side of my neck. Turning slightly my vision starts to become hazy, I see John behind me. Now, where the fuck was that asshole hiding?

Then I feel my body drain of energy while I struggle to stay standing. My body becomes heavy as I try to fight through it, sluggishly I walk towards John and flick my wrist causing him to slam into one of the cabinets. I feel my eyes close heavily as my body drops to the floor and then there's nothing.

When I wake up again I'm tied to a chair, my wrists behind my back and there's a rag tied around my mouth so that I can't speak. I try to open my eyes, my vision is too foggy, so I close them quickly and I try to blink my vision back into focus. Whatever they poked me with is really trying to keep me out. I see the outline of who I think is my newish father, whom I already dislike very strongly.
