"Tam! Stop eating all of the Mallowmelt!" Sophie exclaimed, whacking Tam on the head as Tam stuffed a piece in his mouth.
"Leave me alone! I was just testing it!" Tam defended, trying to shove Sophie away.
Sophie angrily blew a strand of her hair that fell in her face from her loose ponytail as she crossed her arms.
Sophie had invited Tam over so they could make Mallowmelt for Linh since she was returning home today. However, Tam was being quite a cheeky rat by making a mess in the kitchen and stealing most of the Mallowmelt.
"You know that Mallowmelt is my thing!" Sophie hissed, narrowing her eyes.
"And stealing it is my thing!" Tam snapped back, glaring back at Sophie.
Sophie then rolled her eyes and snatched the tray of Mallowmelt before Tam could grab some more.
"This is for Linh, remember? You need to save some for her! Now I'm going to wrap it up in tinfoil so don't you dare touch it!" Sophie instructed.Tam then bickered something under his breath as he moved to a dark side of the kitchen. Sophie then walked over to the next room where the pantry and the dining room was. Sophie then set the Mallowmelt down on the table and grabbed some foil to wrap it up in.
But before she started to wrap up the tray, Sophie eyed the gooey Mallowmelt and her mouth started to water. Sophie then bit her lip and snapped her head around to see if anyone was nearby or was watching.
When the coast was clear, Sophie then quickly grabbed a piece and stuffed it in her mouth and quickly wrapped up the tray to hide the evidence.
Perfect, surely no one will notice.
Sophie then left the wrapped up tray on the table for Tam to grab when he leaves. She then turned around.
Before she could walk away, she gasped when she saw Tam standing a few feet away from her, gawking.
"HYPOCRITE! You had a piece of Mallowmelt too!" Tam accused stalking towards her.
Well, someone surely did notice.
"I can um—explain!" Sophie defended, starting to back up as she put her hands up in surrender.
"Then explain!" Tam said, his eye twitching.
Shoot. The thing was...she had nothing to explain.
Sophie then put a hand on the back of her neck. "Uh—um...well you see...um the thing is...I—"
Suddenly the doorbell rang, cutting her off and saving her from answering.
Sophie then smirked and stuck her tongue out at Tam as she happily made her way to the door. Tam obviously seemed annoyed that she had gotten away with it. The look Tam was giving her seemed to say "don't think this is over yet!"
Sophie then opened the door to reveal it to be Nick. Sophie then mentally face-palmed when she realized that she had forgotten that she invited Nick over to talk. It was still a couple days after Jensi and his grandparents' death and Sophie was still not fully herself. Nick had given her another day and then insisted they needed to talk for Sophie's own good.
"Hi Nick," Sophie greeted, gesturing for Nick to come inside, followed by giving him a hug.
"Hey," he said, pulling away from her hug to close the door behind him.
"I didn't know he was coming over!" Tam said, pointing at Nick.
Nick's eyebrows then furrowed when he spotted Tam. "Um...and I didn't know that Tam would be here," Nick said, slowly.
