Byleth walked slowly and took a seat. The professor was uneasy as she sat there.
"Well?" Rhea asked her.
When nothing happened, Rhea's face fell with despair, "It was supposed to be but a step away... What could possibly be missing?"
Footsteps could be heard and they caused Dimitri to turn rapidly, "Halt! Reveal yourself!"
A man ran up to them speaking, "Don't move, any of you! If you move, your lives will be forfeit!"
Freya found out his name was Metodey, Commander of the Adrestian Empire. Metodey smirked, "Thank you so much for guiding us this far. The Imperial army will now take possession of everything in the Holy Tomb."
"Why is the Imperial army here?" Dedue said.
"This can't be... How did they get into Garreg Mach?" Ingrid said surprised.
"Even the Flame Emperor is here. That can only mean..." Sylvain said, letting his voice trail off.
"... There was a traitor among us," Freya finished slowly moving her hand to Silverlight.
"The Flame Emperor is connected to the Empire. What do you know," Felix said.
"I never imagined you'd have the nerve to return here. What are you after, Flame Emperor?" Dimitri demanded.
"Is it not obvious? The Holy Tomb contains great power. The power to rule all of Fódlan," The Flame Emperor said, revealing his motives.
"And to attain that power, you'll trample anything hat stands in your way," Dimitri seethed, "Just like you did in Duscur!"
"I had nothing to do with that," The Flame Emperor claimed, "Quickly, retrieve the Crest Stones! Kill for them if you must."
"Insolence," Rhea said furious, "You will atone for the sin of trampling on this holy resting place."
Freya was intimidated by the archbishop's tone and in that moment, realized the great power Rhea had.
"Professor," she addressed, "Destroy these villainous traitors who dare dishonour our creator!"
Everyone got into formation against the Flame Emperor's soldiers. Rhea stood behind them, "I will not allow such violence from the Empire! Strike down the rebels and protect the Holy Tomb!"
"The Crest Stones are in the caskets! Open every last one of them!" Metodey ordered.
"The Holy Tomb must not be desecrated! Protect as many Crest Stones as you can!"
"Heretics," Dimitri said enraged, "What could be gained from desecrating these tombs and disgracing the dead?!"
Freya frowned and saw demonic beasts and soldiers advancing on them. She saw one grab a Crest Stone and she ran over with her sword drawn.
"Oh no you don't," she said through gritted teeth.
Silverlight cut through the soldier who fell to the ground before her. She picked up the Crest Stone and noticed the Flame Emperor watching her intently. She glared daggers and slashed another soldier. She attempted to run over to where the Flame Emperor stood when a Demonic Beast got in the way. She dodged effectively and eventually slayed the beast.
After battling, the Crest Stones were all protected and the Flame Emperor's mask fell to the ground. Freya was speechless at the identity of the person before her. Anger flared inside her at the sight. She looked at the prince with concern. To her horror, he was laughing. Based on that action alone, she knew Dimitri had snapped.
