Dick watched from the roof as his lover left the manor. He cried when he saw him crying. He wanted to jump off the roof and hug Jason. But he couldn't. That would put both their lives in jeopardy.
"I know what you're thinking," a voice came from behind him.
"What am I thinking, Bruce?! I have to lie to my fia- " he caught himself, "family."
"I know."
"You don't understand! They all think I'm dead!" Dick got angry and threw a punch at Bruce which he expected and caught.
"That is the price you have to pay," he calmly stated as he pushed away Dick's hand.
"What if I don't want to do this? I can't keep lying to them."
"No. You will do this. Whatever it takes to protect this family."
Dick turned his back to Bruce to see Jason. He watched as Jason got up, leaving the gates of the manor, leaving their life together.
