Esther was a very powerful witch. Her family tree could be traced back to the beginning of time, so it was said. The tales that were passed on from generation to another generation of women said that Oðinn himself had given the gift to her ancestor. At the time both dark and white magic was taught to those, who were chosen being able to balance both. Those, who said that had a pure heart. Esther had been chosen. And she did all she was asked to, pledging to uphold the balance and never use witchcraft for her own gain.
"....But, the heart of the men are weak..."- Esther remembered her mother saying to her as she sat with her one night preparing supper.
She now sat down after she had finished cooking her meal. A thousand or even more years could pass, but she would not forget all her mother had told her before she got wed and send her away from her house.
"There must be balance..." - she muttered to herself- "at least where I existed... I need my peace. My dear children...you need your peace too."
She then went to the back of the shop and prepared everything necessary for the ritual she had been preparing for a while now.

In Elena's apartment, she and Elijah were sitting at the dining table in her kitchen.
"Thank you for sharing your meal time with me..."- he said.
"I have done many unusual things in my life so far...but not had dinner with a vampire...must admit that... and it was so normal... just like..."
"An ordinary couple?!"- he said looking at her smiling a bit.
"Yeah..."- she said dreamily and the sighed a little- "... I really don't understand all of this... I mean... I know now that there were other women who looked exactly like me in different realities... and we are supposed to be all the same...but they were not hunters...and you knew them all...?!"
"I knew them... but...although you resemble... I mean you are identical in your looks, but your mannerisms are not the same... you don't fall in love with a picture... of course you are drawn buy the looks, it catches ones eye... but its ones heart and soul that truly capture the true nature of what love is..."
Elena's eyes watered a little. It sounded very potetic to her.
"You have to feel it..."- she then uttered, remembering how he captured her heart.
Flashback
Elena wondered through the caves. She couldn't remember how she got there, but she vividly remembered how she and her friend Caroline wondered off in the woods one afternoon finding the caves and went each afternoon back exploring and playing in them throught out the whole summer.
"I am so done with this endless craziness... huh... vampires, warlock, werewolves... huh, why me.... I just wanted to be a doctor and have a family...."
"You do?!"- a man stood in front of her and she looked at him shocked.
"Who are you?... What are you doing here?... Who sent you?..."- Elena shot at him ready to fight the stranger if he came closer.
"It's a very long story..."- Elijah said- "I will answer your questions, but let me introduce myself...my name is Elijah..."
"Elena...what coven has sent you?"-she still looked at him sternly.
"No coven..."- he said calmly and then told her who he was.
They both evoked the memory of their first meeting in the caves of the woods in Mystic Falls.
"I remembered it this afternoon... when... you were asleep... it's the story of how you played there as a boy...hiding from the werewolves that... just made me like you... and then when we were back at the my parents house... "
"Yes...we were working to find the spell against my mother through the whole historical society library..."-Elijah rememberred as well.
"OMG... there were those diaries... I just remembered...when you went to look for them... and never returned..."- Elena said.
"You mean...when mother sent us back to wherever we are now..."- Elijah said.
"The diaries... I know where they are now..."- Elena got happy as if she had an epiphany.
"Excuse me..."- Elijah didn't quite understand what she meant.
"Ok... There are diaries that my father's uncles and greatuncles have been writing... and they disappeared and for years...noone could find them...we thought they got burnt with the house at the beginning of the 20th century... but they are in the lake house!!... that is how it was...I got to the lake house and looked for them....but ...puff... when I woke up .... I was not in Mystic Falls again...but here in New York..."- Elena explained.
"And so you thought you dreamt it all..."- Elijah concluded.
"Yes..."- Elena said- "well...no time to waste... I need to go to Mystic Falls..."
She now called Liv.
Elijah also looked at his phone, but it was dead.

Somewhere in a jazz club
Klaus and Caroline swayed to the music as if enchanted not thinking about the world around them, times passed or future. He had told her everything. Who he trully was and what he knew about their encounters before according to Elijah. Deep in her heart Caroline's suspicions were cleared. She was relieved and happy that all was true.
....Everytime we say goodbye, I die a little,
Everytime we say goodbye, I wonder why a little,
Why the Gods above me, who must be in the know.
Think so little of me, they allow you to go.
When you're near, there's such an air of spring about it,
I can hear a lark somewhere, begin to sing about it,
There's no love song finer, but how strange the change from major to
minor,
Everytime we say goodbye.....The woman on the piano sang.
But moments of bliss were not to be. Esther poured the blood of all her children chanting a sinister spell. No witch could have whitstood the moment when she uttered the last word.
In different parts of the city Elena, Caroline and Sophie looked in horror, as they witnessed the vampire they were talking to suddenly having felt an excruciating pain in their chest, placing the hand on it trying to gasp for breath. Their lifeless bodies slumped down on the floor as if they were made out of paper.
Elena fell down on her knees immediately calling for Elijah to talk to her, look at her, tapping him on the face. But there was nothing. No answer.
The same occured to Klaus as they got out of the club and were about to walk down the road.
In the Lexington building. Sophie tried frantically to do a spell, but her magic and knowledge of dark magic was nothing compared to Esther's.
In the magic shop, Esther sat down calmly as she felt the completion of what she had intended.
She was crying.
"Each of you will be born again..."- she murrmurred- "and you will be happy... I love you so much, my dear children."
She now felt the dark magic taking the toll on the body she was using. She managed to lay down on the sofa that was in the back of the room.
"Farewell"- were the last words that came out.
