After getting to the door Malfoy knocked before slowly opening it.
After a quick look around we started down a small set of stairs, through a door, and down a corridor.
The walls were black with doors lining each side of the hall. We got to the end and stopped.
"What are you doing Malfoy?" I hissed.
"Listening." He answered.
"To what?"
"Shh."
He put his ear against the wall and groaned. "They are in there. All of them."
"Who?"
"The Carrows and my Aunt. But she isn't."
"What do you mean?"
His moved his eyes to look up and down the hallway with moving his head before looking up at the ceiling.
"Come on." He said before heading back down the way we came and up the stairs.
After going down many more corridors we stopped in front of a door.
He waved his wand over the door a few times before slowly opening it.
"You can't come in here." Malfoy said.
"Why?"
"Because an alarm will sound if an unknown face enters and that will alert my Aunt in a heartbeat."
"She doesn't trust anyone does she?"
"Give her a reason to. Name one reason that you Aurors have given her to even consider trusting you."
I stayed silent.
"Exactly. Now stay here and keep watch. But keep the cloak over you." Then he disappears behind the door.
(Draco's POV)
Once I enter the room I go straight to the opposite wall. After knocking in a couple different places I use my wand to open a secret door.
As I suspected. Granger was tied up and bleeding on the floor with her eyes shut. She was very weak.
"Granger." I whispered.
She opened her eyes and started panicking once she saw me.
"It's ok. I am not going to hurt you. Weasley is outside the door. We are here to rescue you."
She just looked at me with uncertainty in her eyes.
"Can you stand?"
"I don't know." She answers.
I pull out my wand and point it at her which makes her panick some more.
"Calm down I am going to heal you so you can possibly stand."
After doing a few charms I cut the ropes and helped her to her feet.
"No. She isn't going to survive the night and I am going to make sure of that."
My eyes widened. "We need to go now." I say.
As soon as I get her out of the closet my Aunt enters from a door on the other side.
"Draco. Where have you been? Where is your mother?" My Aunt asked.
"At home." I lied.
She slapped me acrossed the face which caused me to stagger backwards.
"I am not going to ask again. Where is your mother?"
I lied again which earned me another slap.
"Why are you helping the mudblood?"
I was about to answer when six people burst in the door.
Weasel, Potter, Finnigan, Thomas, Longbottom, and Creevey were there.
"Ron." Granger shrieked.
I let go over her and she fell into Weasley's arms.
"What is going on here?" Amycus asked as he stepped out from behind Bellatrix.
"Looks like blood will be shed." Alecto sneered wickedly.
"SECRUMSEPRA!" Bellatrix yelled while pointing her wand at Granger.
Without thinking I jumped in the way of the spell and collapsed to the ground.
The last thing I see is spells flying over my head. Someone drags me towards a wall and that is where I black out completely.
(Ron's POV)
When Malfoy got hit three stunning spells were sent in Bellatrix's direction which knocked her out immediately. The Carrow's tried to flee but were bound with ropes by Neville and Seamus.
Hermione dragged Malfoy out of the way and attempted to stop the bleeding using wandless magic. The bleeding seized but not much.
She checked his pulse before breaking down in tears.
(Six months later)
After that day in the LeStrange's Manor, Bellatrix and the Carrow's were given the dementors kiss.
That was also the day Draco Malfoy died while saving my wife Hermione.
She was torn up by his death although he was awful to her in school. He had given his life to save her and I will be forever grateful for that.
I quit my job at the Ministry after that day because I couldn't stand to see anyone else give their life for someone they were cruel to in school.
Right now me and Hermione where standing at the grave of the man who saved my princess.
"You shouldn't have done it Draco. You could have gotten married and had kids. You could have been happy. I have a feeling you would have been an amazing father and that your children would have been happy." Hermione was saying while trying to hold back tears. "Thamk you for saving my life. I will always be thankful for that and I will never forget the way you died. You died while helping an Auror save his wife from the hands of your Aunt."
She was crying by now.
"Thank you."
She stood up and wrapped her arms around my waist. After a few more minutes we apparated back home.
Malfoy may not have been a friend to me at school, but him giving his life for Hermione helped me forgive everything he has done. After that I will consider him a friend.
Our mistakes do not make us who we are. It is how we fix them that matters in the end.
And that is just what Draco Malfoy did.
