people didn't work out, y/n could be an actress. Although, most people would consider it pathological lying.Dick ordered take-out every Thursday, so she needed to wait a day until she conveniently ran into him. She placed herself at the bar of the restaurant, perfectly in view of the door so when he came to pick up his regular order, she'd ultimately catch his eye.
Her story changed a bit, she was no longer just a university drop but a girl with a drunk, abusive boyfriend.
Having connections in her line of work was important. Y/n had texted a guy she once did a job with to play the part of the boyfriend, she also payed him to take a few blows. She told where to be and when.
She hunched over her drink, mixing it slowly with the straw, a tear trailing down her cheek.

There he was, walking into the restaurant like clock work. He greeted the waitress, picking up his doggy-bag when he saw her.
Y/n was almost too good at this game. She'd been at it long enough to know how the male mind worked.
"Y/n? Oh my god, what a coincidence." He walked over, not noticing her tears right away but when he did, his cheerful attitude dropped.
She looked at him with innocent eyes, even though she was far from it.
"We met at the café, right?" She sniffled, rubbing her eyes. Dick invited himself to sit down next to her.
"Yeah. Are, um, are you okay?" He asked, leaning in, placing his takeout on the bar counter. Y/n bit her lip before answering.
"I'm fine, me and my boyfriend got into a fight— it's nothing really." She pushed a stand behind her ear, purposely showing off a bruise mark on her wrist.
"Boyfriend." Dick repeated, taking in the new information. "I didn't realize— are you alright?"
Y/n was slow with her response, trying to seem hesitant. She shrugged.
"Yeah, I guess." She tilted her head up slowly to look at him, "I know were basically strangers but I'm heading over to our apartment tonight and I'm scared."
Dick sat up straight, he still had his badge on him, trying to make it noticeable.
"You know I'm a cop—" he was going to offer arresting her boyfriend but y/n quickly cut him off.
"It's better if you don't. I'd only get into more trouble with him." She batted her eyelashes, "I just, I don't know many people in town, so maybe I could get your phone number in case anything happens? I could maybe give you our address?"
Dick found it hard to refuse. He couldn't deny the attraction he felt for her, not to mention his constant need to do good.
"Of course." He whispered, taking out a pen, jotting his number on an extra napkin.
Y/n did the same, writing down her fake boyfriend's address on a napkin.
She smiled as he passed it to her, she slowly started to get up, "enjoy your meal, Dick." She stated, leaving the restaurant.
Dick rubbed his lip with his thumb as he sat tensely on the bar stool. He promise himself that Blüdhaven was somewhere he didn't have to be anyone but Dick Grayson. Yet he couldn't just let y/n walk into that horrible situation.
He jumped up from his seat, snatching his burger meal and rushing to his car. The only thing he could think about was putting on his Nightwing suit and heading to her boyfriend's apartment.
