Y/N TOSSED THE ball to the wall of her cell for it to bounce back to her hand. She was on a break from cleaning up the toilets. She spent most of her free time today in her own cell, waiting for the facility to inform her that lunch is ready.
She hasn't attempted escaping yet. The girl was buying her time, exploring every corner of the place. She would've familiarized it more today, but one of her inmates accused her of bullying one of their friends (which she didn't).
For now, she reflected on herself since she got nothing else to do. She had the ball floating up in the air with her telekinesis as she did so. And out of all the time in the world, she chose now to wonder why her parents left her down the streets when she was just a little toddler. She didn't even get the chance to know what they looked like.
Why did they leave her?
Was it because of her powers? Did it scare them? Was it because she was a burden to them? Or were they just too selfish to care?
Y/N snapped herself out of her trance as soon as she heard the unlocking of the door to her cell. She immediately grabbed the ball before anyone could see it floating. "Hey, Hargreeves, time for lunch." Officer Benson informed.
The girl lazily stood up from her bed and walked out of her cell on her way to the cafeteria.
The cook scooped up some beef tomato stew and put it in Y/N's tray. It was the same food she'd eaten yesterday for dinner. It just typically tasted like salt and rust combined together.
After she got her food, she sat down on an empty table. Various chatters of every kid around her were all that could be heard. The girl tried her best to focus on eating the meal in front of her, but she couldn't shake off the feeling someone staring at her.
Y/N look up with her signature frown on her face to see a 13 year old girl with dirty blonde hair staring at her, giving the girl a smug look that made her look like a beaver. She was the one who claimed to be the big dog around the facility.
The H/C haired girl looked at her with so much aversion. She had no idea what is it with them that they kept on looking at her ever since she came in the first place.
With that, she rested her elbow on the table and flicked a middle finger towards her. “Mind your damn business, mouth breather.”
The girl that was looking at her frowned as soon as she heard Y/N's voice up in her head. It made Y/N scoff when the girl suddenly avoided her gaze as she when back to eating as if something was chasing her.
Once their lunch was over, all of them had to go outside. Whether if it's for a task or nothing. Others were just sitting by the benches and others were moving big rocks out of the way.
Y/N, on the other hand, separated herself from her inmates. She checked her surroundings, making sure nobody was looking so she could get herself back inside to venture out the rooms and look for a way out.
Until she heard one of her inmates' thoughts of shanking her for fun. She could hear their footsteps from behind and the sound of taking out their makeshift knife from its sheath.
"Didn't your mommy ever tell you it's bad to stab someone?" Y/N spoke up.
They came into a halt when they heard her. They all wondered how did she know what they were about to do.
Y/N faced them as she rolled up the sleeves of her orange jumpsuit and rested her arms on her knees, waiting for them to answer. One of them was the same girl who kept looking at her at lunch.
