"uh yeah, that's me," Corbyn mumbled, letting out an uneasy laugh not sure of what to say in a situation like this. everything was just a lot- here he was in the fucking castle, standing opposite of his king- who had just called him his future son in law, how was he supposed to react to that? he just couldn't.

"and i think this is when we shut up right dad?" daniel said with a laugh, noticing how uncomfortable the question made corbyn, which he understood, if he was in corbyn's position he would've probably had shit his pants right about now, okay maybe not, but there was definitely a chance. he remembered how nervous he had been meeting corbyn's parents for the first time, and they were just normal people, they weren't even royalty, so he could only imagine how nervous corbyn was, and how much pressure he felt on him.

"i remember back when i met daniel's mum, she was extraordinary, and even though she came with a family with influence, and had been to the castle a few times before, i remember how nervous she had been when i introduced her to my parents, so i really don't blame any of you if you feel nervous, but if it makes you any better i was debating on whether or not to wear my pajama pants, but there's donuts on them- which i'd like to say was on daniel's account, it was he who picked the donuts, but i thought that, that would be a tad too embarrassing, but, the moral of this story is that we're human too, no different than you, just born on the right place, in the right time, so there's nothing to be nervous about," daniel's father continued, daniel smiling as he realized the giggles that scattered across the room, and the nerves that disappeared, not all of them, but some of them.

"so no one will die if we don't use the fork the correct way?" jack asked, seemingly making a joke, but in honesty he had spent two hours on youtube watching videos about how to use a fork the correct way.

"i don't even know what the correct way to use a fork is, so no, definitely not, but i'm kinda curious at to what the correct way to use a fork is now, maybe we should all take some lessons together, sometime" the king responded with, letting out a joke. daniel smiled as his dad proposed that they could do all do something together another day- that meant that he liked them, at least that he didn't absolutely hate them.

"are you seriously suggesting taking how-to-use-a-fork-the-right-way lessons right now?" daniel mumbled, as he let out a laugh that spread out to the others. none of them having expected anything near this conversation.

"i actually had one of those back in france," bella said, as she laughed. daniel not believing his ears.

"is this like a normal royal thing, that we've somehow skipped?" daniel asked, mostly directed at his dad, who just laughed as he shook his head.

"anyways, let's eat some dinner, kids," the king suggested, once they had all calmed down a bit, gaining their breath back. they nodded, and so they started their meal- that consisted of 5 different meals, which was a lot, if you weren't used to it. the dinner went by quickly, filled with laughter, crazy stories and just bonding in general.

daniel laughed at something jack had said, as he calmly ate his pudding, opening his mouth to speak as he felt a hand landing on his thigh, daniel froze as he looked over at corbyn who just sent him a smile, daniel smiled brightly as he let his hand rest on top of corbyn's. he felt happy, corbyn made him so damn happy, and daniel liked nothing better than the thought of him knowing corbyn was slowly letting him back in.

"when daniel was a kid, he's always hide under the tables whenever he had to go to any form of social thing, and he was convinced that none of the guests knew that he was hiding under the table, but he always forgot to tuck his feet in under the table as well, gave us all some great laughs," the king said with a laugh, daniel staring at him i disbelief, he still had thought to this day that he had been so sneaky back then.

"wait what?! you guys knew- i- wow okay, that's embarrassing, i finally understand all the table jokes people tell me," daniel mumbled, thinking back to all the times where people had mentioned how good the tables look- how long the cloth that covered them were- how good they would be for hiding. the other's laughed as daniel just stared into the air for a bit, not able to comprehend how embarassing that actually is.

"don't worry, love. we all hid under the table's at some point," corbyn said as he laughed, squeezing daniel's thigh for a split second. daniel just huffed.

"some of us were just a bit more sneaky i guess," bella joked as he winked at daniel, whoo just pulled his middle finger at her. making the others break out laughing- even daniel's father.

"sorry to cut it short guys, but i have some pretty boring documents waiting for me in my office, it was very nice to meet you, thanking you for keeping my boy happy when i couldn't. i'll see you again later- and if not then see you at breakfast, thank you for coming," daniel smiled at his dad as he left, all of them saying their goodbyes.

"who would've thought that the king was so- so-" jack started out, not knowing what word to use to describe him.

"human?" zach suggested, getting a laugh out of daniel.

"yeah, my dad's very human! surprise guys," he said as he laughed, after that they all got up, getting ready for the rest of the tour around the castle.

authors note !

new update, who is she? okay, but on a real note though, thank you so much for being patient with me :/ i'd just like to say thank you for all the support you guys have shown lately, i got diagnosed with depression & social anxiety recently, and the support that i have gotten on my stories lately have really been helping make me feel better. :) thank you so much for that, and everything else. i love you guys so much.

also i'd just like to say that, if you feel down, ask for help. i've gone for two years keeping my feelings to myself, because i was scared- scared of people not understanding, or being called dramatic. and that was a big mistake on my part. ask for help, seek help. it helps, i promise it's worth it. i recently started therapy which has really been helping! don't be scared to seek out. i promise there's someone out there somewhere, who understands you, and wants to help :)

if you ever wanna talk, you're very welcome to send me a message :) <3 (also hello, yes i'm very awkward, just a small warning lmao)

have a good day, i love you. x thank you, again. :)

(also thank you for 30k reads, on this story, it's absolutely insane. and some shameless self-promo, i published a story yesterday called heather :) it's a short sad story, inspired by conan gray's story, it would be greatly appreaciated if you gave a read, im quite proud of it <3)
