Lexa had woken up before Clarke. She didn't sleep that much. First she couldn't fall asleep because she was too restless. Clarke made her feel too much while she held her like this and seeing her wearing her hoodie without saying she had to but her just wanting to, didn’t help her to calm down either. But she didn’t want to sleep either. She wanted to capture this moment where Clarke held her and where she was sleeping peacefully by her side because she knew those moments wouldn’t come that often. For all she knew it might be the only time that this happened to her. So instead of sleeping she watched Clarke’s peaceful face. She watched every inch of it but especially her slightly parted lips that were letting the air past it. They looked so soft and Lexa couldn’t help but lick her own lips when she thought of how it would feel like kissing her. Lexa never wanted this moment to stop so the moment where Clarke started to move more until her eyes fluttered open, came too soon for the brunette. She had expected Clarke to let go of her once she woke up and increase the distance because their faces were pretty close but she didn’t. Lexa’s heart stopped for a moment when she was looking into those clear blue eyes from so close. “Good morning.” Clarke said with sleepy voice and it didn’t help Lexa’s internal feelings. The blonde yawned and closed her eyes again, snuggling her face against Lexa’s shoulder and the brunette had to take a deep breath again while hoping Clarke wouldn’t notice her heart racing. Clarke opened one eye to look at Lexa when she didn’t hear the brunette say anything. “Are you okay?” She asked and it was then Lexa realised she hadn’t said anything. “Good morning! Sorry I’m still a bit tired.” Lexa said to save herself and seems like Clarke believed it. “How did you sleep?” She asked while closing her eye again. “I slept good. How did you sleep? You didn’t have any nightmares right?” Lexa asked and Clarke nodded against her shoulder. “I didn’t no. Seems like you’re my nightmare catcher. Can I keep you?” Clarke asked and Lexa chuckled. “Yes you can. You have a really comfortable bed and you keep me warm when you’re holding me.” Lexa said and she thought she had said something wrong because Clarke let go of her. But instead of leaving the bed, what Lexa thought, Clarke rolled on top of her. “You mean like this?” She said and Lexa laughed. She coughed when Clarke crushed her lungs and the blonde rolled off of her again. “Are you okay?” She asked with a smile and Lexa raised her thump in the air while she kept on coughing a bit. Clarke groaned when her alarm went off, the sign she had to get up and get ready for school. “I don’t have the feeling we have to go to school. It just feels like a sleepover between friends.” Lexa said and Clarke nodded. “I wish it was. I really don’t want to go to school. I don’t want to see Finn or Josephine or just any senior that knew of the bet but didn’t even think of warning me. Where did respect for people go?”
“We are in highschool. There isn’t much respect there.”
“I can’t wait to get out of there and just leave all dickheads behind.” Clarke said with a sigh. “Including me?” Lexa asked and Clarke scoffed. “No. Of course not you. You’re not a dickhead. You’re… Lexa.”
“And what does that mean?” Lexa asked with a raised eyebrow. “It means that you’re respectful, kind and helpful. Someone I can trust.” Clarke said and she meant them. “Fair enough.” Lexa said and she got up from the bed. “What are you going to do?” Clarke asked. “I’m going to leave you alone so you can get ready for school.”
“But I really don’t want to go.” Clarke said and she pouted while she let herself fall on her back on the mattress dramatically. Lexa hesitated because she knew school was important and they had missed a lot already when the accident happened and they stayed at the hospital but this was also an opportunity to get closer to Clarke and make her feel better. Besides, she deserves a day off after all the shit she had to go through right? “We don’t have to go.” Lexa said and Clarke looked at her with a curious gaze. “I want to go surfing with you.” Lexa said and a smile started to form on Clarke’s face. “Today?” Clarke asked excited and Lexa nodded with a smile too. Clarke got up immediately and almost jumped on Lexa. “You know what I need.” Clarke said while she hugged Lexa tight and the brunette chuckled. “I guess you deserve a day of rest after everything.” Lexa said and they let go of each other, although Lexa could hold her forever. “Get ready.” Lexa said before leaving Clarke in the room. The moment she closed the door behind her, she rested her head against it, looking up to the ceiling with a smile. “Someone seemed to have a great night.” Anya said while leaning against the doorframe of the bathroom door. Lexa was startled and looked at her cousin with a very confused face. “Anya? What are you doing here?” Lexa asked and she gasped. “Did you sleep with Raven?!” Lexa half said, half whispered and Anya rolled her eyes. “Of course not. We just talked and lost time. It was already very late so she suggested me to stay over. But seems like you did sleep with someone.” Anya said with a grin while eying to Clarke’s room. “No I didn’t! I mean yes I did. But not in the way you think I did.” Lexa said and Anya grinned at Lexa panicking. “What do I think then?”
“That… You know… Clarke and I…” Lexa said and she moved her head to finish the rest of her sentence what made Anya even smile wider. “God Lexa you’re so awkward.” She said and and Lexa rolled her eyes. “Just go to school.” She groaned while rolling her eyes. “We are going to the same school, remember? I’m going to come with you.”
“I’m not going to school today.”
“Why not?”
“I’m going to go surfing with Clarke. She’s not ready to go to school yet. Finn will be there.”
“Lexa, you missed a lot of school already because you stayed at the hospital when Clarke had the accident. You need to catch up with that. You can’t keep giving up school because of her.”
“It’s one day Anya. I suggested it. I’m smart. I’ll catch up.”
“I hope you do or your time here will be short what also means your time with Clarke will be short. Your dad won’t let you stay here if your grades are bad. He doesn’t even know you didn’t go to school for some days.”
“He’s not here and I shouldn’t let him stop me from finding love. Those were your words. Well I’m doing that now.” Lexa said and before Anya could say something more, she went in the bathroom to get ready.
